Dermalogica AGE Smart System available from Pure Beauty OnlineAgeing is something that many people dread – especially women – so when you see the tell-tale signs like fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness you know the years are catching up with you.

There are so many skin products out there that claim to slow down or even irradiate the signs of ageing and to keep you looking youthful but the truth is, many of them don’t do what they claim to do and are purely marketing ploys.

Dermalogica on the other hand have developed a range of products that target the main causes of ageing, which have only recently been discovered.

There are a number of biological changes that lead to skin ageing, including:

Free Radicals (reactive oxygen species) which increase in number when the skin is exposed to UV rays; they attack the molecules in skin cells so that they no longer have a function and then move on to collagen and elastin fibres. Once this process has begun it means that the skin is no longer able to repair itself and lines and wrinkles are inevitable.

Advanced Glycation End (AGEs) products are created when collagen and glucose interact. AGEs cause ageing to be accelerated so lines and wrinkles appear much more quickly than usual. Consequently, the early onset of ageing leads to a reduction in cell renewal rates as well as elasticity.

Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) are released by the body and require activation. MMPs are activated by the sun’s UV rays and once activation has occurred they attack the collagen fibres which in turn hinders collagen synthesis.

So, if you want to reduce or prevent the signs of ageing take a look at the Dermalogica AGE Smart system which was developed especially to target these age inducing factors.

Dermalogica Active Moist 100ml available from Pure Beauty OnlineWhen it’s time to replace your beauty products do you get bamboozled by the sheer number of products that there are to choose from? There’s only one way to eliminate the products that are useless to you and to zoom in on the ones that could be great for your skin, and that is, to understand moisturisers.

Before you add a few more wrinkles to your forehead frowning at the number of products that are available you should take the time to learn about the different types of moisturisers and their ingredients and what they could do for you.

First of all, the main purpose of any moisturiser is to rehydrate your skin and then maintain the hydration throughout the day. However, the way in which moisturisers do that varies from product to product. Dermalogica Active Moist for example is an oil-free moisturiser – so great for even the oiliest skin – that uses natural ingredients such as mallow, cucumber and lavender to provide deep hydration.

When choosing a moisturiser you should also think about your age. As you get older you will require a moisturiser that is much more intense as your skin will lose moisture even more quickly. Dermalogica’s Age Smart System offers a great range of products that can be used alongside a daily moisturiser that will maintain your skin’s hydration. Dermalogica Antioxidant HydraMist offers intense rehydration to drying skin. It comes as a convenient mist spray that can be used throughout the day, whenever you feel like your skin could do with a boost.

Nobody wants to look old before their time, which is why so many people spend so much money on fighting the signs of ageing.

Cosmetic surgery procedures are now commonplace in the quest to look eternally youthful, although such extreme measures are not accessible to everyone.

Preventing the premature signs of ageing is preferable to fighting them, which is why it’s never too early to start thinking about how you can keep those fine lines at bay.

There are several factors which contribute to skin ageing prematurely- including poor health, sun damage, extreme climatic conditions, very dry skin and smoking.

If your skin is starting to look a little bedraggled well before its time, the good news is that if you take action now you really can make a visible difference.

The first step in getting your skin back to its supple best is to determine the root cause of premature skin ageing. Not only will this help you to combat the problem, it will also help you to avoid any future issues.

Once you have identified the problem, your next step should be to take a look at some of Dermalogica’s fantastic products for prematurely ageing skin.

From Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque to their great range of cleansers and moisturisers, Dermalogica have everything you need to give your skin a whole new lease of life!

If you’re in your twenties, you may not have even started to think about the skin ageing process. However, one thing that can be said about the skin is that it can be very unpredictable, and many factors can contribute to the skin ageing process without you even realising- including daily sun exposure (even in the UK!), harsh weather conditions, late nights and a busy or stressful lifestyle.

This is why it’s so important to consider how you’re going to launch your battle against the ageing process before the signs even start to appear. Although dealing with the above factors will help to make a significant difference, you also need to think about adjusting your skin care regime.

During childhood and teenage years, a simple wash with soap and water is sufficient for most people. However, as the years pass, the skin’s needs change dramatically.

Keeping skin both hydrated and protected throughout the day is a must, and luckily there are some great products on the market that can help you with this.

Dermalogica have a range of products with fabulous anti-ageing properties to suit all skin types, which will put you firmly on the right track to fighting those ever-annoying fine lines.
