Dry Skin on Your Body? No Problem!

Dry skin can occur anywhere on the body, but the hands, face, elbows, legs, feet, scalp, and arms are the most common areas. Often, the dry skin patches occur in regions which are more uncovered than others, like areas which are exposed to cold air in winter. The skin’s ability to hydrate can be disrupted by both internal and external factors, resulting in extremely dry skin.

When the skin on the body becomes extremely dry, it may feel very tight, scaly, or leathery, and frequently itches or hurts, with some dry skin being bad enough to become cracked or even infected. That’s why we’ve gathered together some of our best products for dry skin so that your body can hydrate and heal:

South Seas – Pineapple Express CBD Body Butter

Although you may associate South Seas with being a tanning brand, this CBD-infused body butter is so rich and restorative that it’s well known for being popular amongst people with dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, not just the tanners amongst us! It’s packed with nature’s finest ingredients from around the world, and the unique formula assists with hydrating your skin to help improve damaged skin by moisturising and treating affected areas to restore your skin’s natural beauty.

REN Clean Skincare Neroli And Grapefruit Body Cream

Although it’s suitable for all skin types, this vegan, cruelty-free body cream from REN Clean Skincare is so nourishing that even the driest skin will benefit from using it. Formulated with orange blossom and cold pressed grapefruit oil, this creamy moisturiser not only hydrates and softens skin, it leaves it with an invigorating fragrance, too. The cream has a silky-soft finish which makes skin feel comfortable with no annoying residue.

Elemis Skin Nourishing Body Cream

This body cream from Elemis is formulated with “excessively dry skin conditions” in mind, harnessing the power of natural ingredients to offer deep nourishment. It contains concentrated milk protein and nourishing camellia, macadamia and jojoba oils, which combine to replenish dry skin, whilst softening and balancing the acid mantle. The soothing extracts of oat kernel and limnanthes alba, combined with the lipid rich sesame and shea butter base ensures skin is left silky soft and healthy looking.

Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Body Oil

This body oil from Dermalogica is not just rich in moisturising oils – it also contains high levels of antioxidants, which help to replenish, calm and moisturise the skin. The blend is made from French plum seed oil, avocado oil and sunflower seed oil, which are rich in omega fatty acids and vitamin E, and help protect skin’s lipid barrier. It’s also packed with calming fermented red ginseng, inspired by Korean skin care rituals, which calms and nourishes to deliver glowing skin.

Aromatherapy Associates Rose Indulgent Body Cream

Last on our list of body creams for dry skin, but by no means the least, is this rose-infused treat from Aromatherapy Associates. The cream is crafted using a pure expert oil blend of warm rose, geranium and palmarosa. Furthermore, Alpine rose from the Swiss Alps is blended with antioxidant rich almond and jojoba oils to hydrate and enrich your skin, leaving you with deeply nourished, hydrated and radiant skin beautifully scented to uplift you throughout the day.

Dermalogica Conditioning Wash

If you’re rushing back to work after a lunchtime spinning session or meeting friends after a HITT class, you might want to skip the shower and head straight out of the door.

Don’t!

As well as leaving you a little smelly and sweaty and not very popular with your colleagues, it won’t do your skin or hair any favours.

At Pure Beauty we sell a range of products that you can throw in your gym bag and will leave you looking, feeling and smelling clean and fresh wherever you are heading next.

Cleanse away
Ideally, don’t wear make-up when you exercise as this can clog your pores as you sweat. Use the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel before and after your step class and let the soap-free, foaming gel remove impurities without disturbing your skin’s delicate natural moisture balance. Skin-soothing Balm Mint cools and calms the skin which is exactly what you need after a workout, while Lavender Extract purifies and smells great too. Simply lather onto your face, rinse away with warm water and your skin will thank you for it.

Jump in the shower
The Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash is packed with natural extracts making it suitable for all skin types and perfect for washing away sweat, odours and germ. Soothing essential oils of Sandalwood, Lavender, Orange and Clary Sage moisturise the skin, leaving it smooth and conditioned and because it uses naturally-foaming Quillaja Saponaria Extract this fantastic wash can be used by anyone because it doesn’t upset the natural balance of the skin.

Wash and go
There is nothing worse than heading out with greasy, sweaty hair, so take the Dermalogica Daily Cleansing Shampoo into the shower after that weights session. This great smelling, nourishing, daily shampoo leaves you with healthy, shiny hair however hard you have been working. Argan Oil adds softness, shine and manageability while Coconut Oil strengthens cuticles and thanks to Grapefruit, Lavender and Geranium Oils, your senses are awakened and your hair smells great.

If you need an extra boost, follow with the Dermalogica Daily Conditioning Rinse which will add brilliant shine and bounce which air-conditioned gyms and chlorinated pools can take away.

Lock in the moisture
When you sweat, your body loses moisture which can leave you and your skin dehydrated so when you step out of the shower and are dry, treat your limbs to a generous application of Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream. This lush cream is quickly absorbed by the skin, which is what you need to if are running to meet a friend at the bar, and will help smooth and soften your skin. We love that is packed with essentials oils which not only sink into your skin but leave it smelling fantastic too.

Hide the red
If you are heading back to work after your exercise class, ease that post-workout redness by applying the Dermalogica Sheer Tint. This lightly tinted moisturiser provides a sheer wash of colour and is perfect if you don’t want to irritate your complexion as it cools down. While it offers protection from the sun, it isn’t chalky or drying but does help with hydration and signs of ageing. We love it and because it comes in light, medium and dark options, there is something for everyone.

All in one
If you are new to Dermalogica, or want everything in one place, we suggest buying going for the Dermalogica Travel Essentials Kit. This convenient, travel kit contains everything you need for top to toe cleaning after you have worked out. For £33 you get a body wash, body cream, shampoo and conditioner in travel sizes which are easy to put in your bag and even easier to use.

beauty hacksDo you ever get that thing where you have a beauty problem but don’t have the specific product to hand? We’ve had this happen to us a bunch of times and although it’s quick and easy to order from the Pure Beauty site, sometimes life just can’t wait! We take a look at some common beauty issues and some of the products you could us in the meantime.

Frizzy Hair

With the weather as hot and humid as is has been lately, very few of us are lucky enough to completely avoid the frizz, which means waking up and realising you’ve run out of hair serum can be a real nightmare. We don’t recommend it as a permanent solution, but rubbing a SINGLE drop of Decleor Rose D’Orient Soothing Oil Serum between your palms and smoothing your hair down after drying and styling can help to prevent your hair from going completely wild.

Sunburn

Obviously, aftersun is what you want if you’ve been daft enough to get burnt in the sun, but if you don’t have any to hand then something like Dermalogica Ultra Rich Body Cream is perfect. It’s specially formulated for sensitised skin and will help to hydrate and repair hot, damaged skin really well.

Shaving

Shaving is a must for most of us when it’s still leg-baring weather but running out of shaving foam can put a dampner on things. Dry shaving is a BAD idea as it can cause shaving rash, ingrown hairs and increased risk of cuts, but there is an alternative – conditioner! Using hair conditioner will soften the hair in preparation for being chopped, as well as providing a silky later for the razor to glide over.

Smelly Feet

Smelly feet and smelly armpits more or less occur in the same way; the body sweats, the sweat contains bacteria which decomposes and starts to produce an odour. Therefore, if you sometimes suffer with sweaty feet but need to keep your plates dry and fresh, using a little deodorant could help. Dermalogica Environmental Control Deodorant uses coriander, parsley, clove and hyssop neutralises odour, while other ingredients inhibit odour-causing bacteria.

Dirty Make Up Brushes

Keeping your make-up brushes clean is so important because dirty brushes can harbour all sorts of bacteria which can result in infections and skin issues. It seems like a no-brainer, but the best thing to get make-up off of your brushes is make up remover, so giving them all a soak and clean up with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is the best way to ensure your brushes aren’t hiding any nasties.
