Having a skin issue like acne can affect not just your skin, but also your mental health. The condition can be tricky to deal with and can leave sufferers feeling frustrated, isolated and depressed. It’s important to remember that you aren’t alone in your struggle with acne, and some of the most beautiful women in the world also struggle with their skin. Here’s a list of five celebrities who also suffer from acne and other skin issues:

Victoria Beckham

To look at Mrs Beckham’s skin these days, you wouldn’t know she struggled with acne for so long, but she dealt with bad skin way into her twenties. To keep her skin in tip-top shape, she swears by a strict regime of exfoliation and moisturisation, and insists that products containing glycolic acid are what have made all the difference to her face.

Cameron Diaz

It’s hard to believe that someone as goddess-like as Cam has ANY problems, but she’s human like the rest of us and her acne was an issue even in her thirties. She credits clean eating with helping her skin to get better “I hadn’t needed to be angry at my skin or feel bad about myself. I had just needed to LISTEN TO MY BODY. Acne was my body’s alarm system, it was a way of telling me [to stop eating fast food]”

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria, star of Desperate Housewives, says that her hectic lifestyle is partly responsible for her issues with breakouts. “Because I fly so much, hydration is important. When you have good skin, everything else kind of falls into place. Also, I use blush with shimmer in it. That way, your skin glows and people notice it.”

Beyonce

While it may come as a shock that Queen Bey has anything even remotely close to being a flaw, the ex-Destiny’s Child singer deals with pimples, uneven skin and large pores. The vasy majority of images that we see of Beyonce have been retouched in some way, giving us slightly unrealistic expectations of what celebrity skin is really like.

Britney Spears

Britney is perhaps one of the most well-known famous acne sufferers, not least of all because the girl is NOT afraid to step outside with a bare face. Whether it’s a conscious effort to give her skin a break from make-up with she’s having a flare up or just a normal woman having a “can’t be bothered” day, we applaud Britney for putting her best face forward, no matter what.

The Oscars are an exciting time for anyone interested in beauty because the looks shown on the red carpets are often a preview of the fashion we’ll see throughout the rest of the year. Aside from some rather unfortunate slip-ups involving envelopes that we won’t go into, this years’ Oscars were an evening to remember and saw some truly stunning looks and flawless faces coming out for the event, so we thought we’d take a look at some of our favourites from the night:

Emma Stone

Despite her being given an Oscar and having it taken away again, Emma Stone looked poised and graceful in her golden gown, which emphasised her alabaster skin and auburn tresses. To achieve a similarly radiant glow to Emma, we’d suggest using Decleor Double Radiance Cream which adds long-lasting moisture to the skin as well as an iridescent sheen to the skin which makes you look like a star.

Faye Dunaway

Faye Dunaway is a beauty ICON and at the age of seventy six looked as elegant and stunning as women half her age as she presented an Oscar. She’s considered one of the most beautiful and glamourous women to have even worked in Hollywood and while we have no doubt that a good life and genetics are responsible for her ageing so gracefully, we’d be willing to bet there were some amazing anti-ageing products, like the Dermalogica Age-Smart System, at work!

Viola Davis

As the only black woman to ever be nominated for three Oscars, it seems only right that Viola Davis should appear on every single “inspirational” list, but we were also blown away to discover that the incredibly youthful Davis is actually 51 years old! Her complexion is the envy of women everywhere and we suspect that she uses a powerful night cream such as Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair to keep it in tip-top condition.

Priyanka Chopra

As well as being one of India’s highest paid actors, a successful singer, film producer and philanthropist, Priyanka Chopra is also a Miss World winner, so shes definitely someone to aspire to in terms of beauty AND everything else! Her beautiful structured gown for the Oscras looked demure from the front but showed a whole lot of skin from the back, and we suspect there was plenty of Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream going on back there to keep her skin looking smooth and supple!

Salma Hayek

There’s only one world for the ever-beautiful Salma Hayek – FIERCE! The 50-year old Mexican-American actress looked incredible in her head-to-toe black dress which showed off all the right curves in all the right places. We’re huge fans of Salma, both in terms of her fashion choices and her ethical ones, especially the work she does for UNICEF, women’s charities and other activism. Her complete lack of the signs of ageing is probably thanks to a really good eye cream, such as Dermalogica Age Reversal Eye Complex.

It’s a sad fact that we very rarely see an untouched image of celebrities these days, no matter how flawless they actually are in real life. This unrealistic standard is so hard for ‘normal’ women to live up to, especially when we don’t even know what’s real and what’s not. Today, we take a look at five “before and after” shots of some of the most famous, and beautiful, women on the planet and makes some slightly more realistic suggestions of how to take care of your skin without the need for Photoshop.

Madonna

Madonna

Given the fact that Madonna is 58 years old and is a life0long smoker, we think she looks pretty amazing in the first picture, but whoever retouched the second image obviously believes that her skin has too many wrinkles. She could probably benefit from using Dermalogica Age Reversal Eye Complex which helps with wrinkles, crows feet, puffiness, dark circles due to hyperpigmentation and skin sensitivity due to dehydration. It is suitable for drier/prematurely-aging.

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford may now be 50 but she’s credited with being one of the world’s first supermodels and, in our opinion, still looks incredible. Obviously, it’s inevitable that skin will change texture, and the skin of a fifty year old will rarely be as smooth and taut as that of a 20 year old, but using Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream daily can help to firm and re-texturise the skin, giving a more youthful appearance.

Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall is best-known for playing Samantha Jones in Sex and the City and is ageing better than most of us could ever hope to, which is why it baffles us that they chose to retouch her photo in the first place. We’re guessing that she already uses a good anti-wrinkle kit because her skin is so radiant and youthful, and we’d recommend Decleor Anti-Wrinkle Starter Kit if you want similar results.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears

Proving that even younger women aren’t immune to the compulsive need to retouch images, 35-year-old Britney Spears has been given the treatment here, where they appear to have darkened her skin and sculpted her bottom. For results that don’t require a PC, try using Decleor Gradual Glow Hydrating Body Milk to give yourself a natural colour, plus Decleor Sculpt Stretch Mark Restructuring Gel-Cream for a smoother rear-end.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz

We’re not quite sure why magazine editors feel the need to make celebrities appear as though their skin has the same texture as glass, but Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz was obviously considered far too human in the before shot, despite being basically flawless. If you’re worried about the texture of your skin, you can always use Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant to help you to appear slightly smoother.

Celebs Who Did it Right in 2015

celebrities, fabulous

As we near the end of the year, it’s nice to take a look back at all of the looks from the year and work out which ones will go into the Style Hall of Fame and which ones will be looked back on in years to come as “wow, what were they thinking?!”. We thought we’d keep it positive and cast an eye over all of the celebs who we thought looked amazing in 2015 and set the trends that everyone else was following.

Adele

Adele

Adele has been mostly out of the limelight this year and has rarely been seen since she made the theme tune to Bond film, Skyfall. However, with her new single and new album, she’s come back onto the scene with a bang – a bang which includes a gorgeous new hairdo! Adele is a beautiful lady who manages to look chic and stylish in just about everything she wears, and is a true ambassador for the plus-sized lady.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

J-Law has look amazing all year long but our favourite look from 2015 has to be her new platinum-blonde bob. With the likes of Caroline Flack also opting for shorter, lighter tresses, it’s obviously something of a trend but we think Jennifer Lawrence wears it best and it’s certainly a more grown-up look than her usual honey-blonde.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner

Whether you like the Kardashians or not, there’s no denying that they’ve made a huge impact in 2015 for one reason or another, but our favourite Kardashian is definitely Kendall. This girls is making it big on the catwalks and is definitely the most natural looking of all of the sisters with her unaltered, youthful looks.

Emma Stone

Emma StoneEmma Stone is famous for her red hair, but is actually blonde in real life! Despite opting for colour from a bottle, we think that Emma Stone is fabulous and has been working it all year with her understated, modern look.

Emma Watson

Emma Watson

Emma Watson has come a LONG way since the frizzy-haired days of Hermione Grainger and has proved (by attending Brown University, no less!) that brains and beauty can go hand in hand. Seeing her with a pixie crop after all those years of playing Hermione was certainly a shock, but we think this lady could get away with just about any look, with her delicate features and alabaster skin.

Our Male Beauty Icons

beauty, celebrities, male

We often look to female celebrities or public figures as our paragons of beauty and grooming, however there are quite a few men out there whose grooming regime must be even stricter than ours. We thought we’d take a look at the five best-groomed male celebrities in recognition of the hard work they put into looking good…and there’s nothing like having a good excuse to look at a few easy-on-the-eye specimens! Here’s our pick of the bunch:

David Beckham

David Beckham

David Beckham is probably the most well-known, well-groomed male celebrity out there and he’s been making waves since the 90’s (anyone else remember the sarong and painted toenails?!). Becks always looked well turned-out, be it on the pitch for Manchester United and LA Galaxy, next to the catwalk supporting his fashionista wife, or spending a day with his kids at a basketball game. We tip our hat to the ever-tidy facial hair and immaculate skin and hope that he continues to grow old with grace. Us mere mortals can achieve similar results with Decleor Triple Protection Shave Perfector, to soften and protect the skin whilst shaving.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

JGL has come a long way since playing the adorable long-haired Tommy in Third Rock From the Sun and is now making waves in both film and music. His slightly retro style means that he always looks stylish and tidy, with a 40’s style hair-do and classic clothing choices. We think he’s turned into a true style icon and can only see him getting better with age.

Jared Leto

Jared Leto

Jared Leto is probably the exact opposite of Becks and JLG, in terms of style, with his flowing golden locks and slightly unkempt clothing choices, but there’s no denying the fact this actor-turned-rocker has the most lustrous mop of hair in all of Hollywood! It’s not often that we’re jealous of a man’s hair (Giselle’s locks are more often lusted after) but Jared is particularly blessed in the follicular region. Keep your own tresses just as beautiful with Dermalogica Shine Therapy Shampoo and Dermalogica Silk Finish Conditioner.

Idris Elba

Idris Elba

Famous for playing the ever-crumpled John Luther, Mr. Elba is far more put-togther in real life. Opting for short hair and facial hair, whether it’s on set or behind the decks at his Ibiza DJ residency, Idris Elba always looks cool and collected. His skin is pretty close to immaculate, which we can only assume is due to drinking lots of water and a good moisturiser, such as Decleor Face Skin Energiser Fluid from the Men Essentials range.

Jet Li

Jet Li

Let us blow your minds for a moment – Jet Li, of Romeo Must Die fame, is FIFTY TWO years old! The man looks not a day over thirty, and while we’re sure that a portion of that must be down to good genes and a healthy lifestyle, we still cannot get our heads around him looking so youthful! In fact, when he was dancing up walls with Aaliyah, he was almost 40! Achieve similar age-defying effects with the Decleor AGE Smart Starter Kit.
