Here at Pure Beauty we pride ourselves on selling products from companies with whom our own values are aligned. We stock only the best products using the best ingredients which have proven results and offer the best bang for your buck. One such company is CACI, who offer some of the most potent non-surgical solutions for age related skin issues. With this in mind, we thought we’d give you an introduction to the brand and some of our favourite products from CACI.

CACI – Age Delay Duo

One of the first places that many people notice the signs of ageing is around the eye area. This is because the skin is thinner and lacks collagen and can therefore be susceptible to puffiness, wrinkles and sagging. The Age Delay Duo from CACI contains an Amino Lift Peptide Complex and Eye Revive Serum which combine to firm the face, combat dark circles and puffy eyes, and visibly reduce the appearance of ageing.

CACI – Rejuvenating Hand Mask

You may be surprised to learn that another prime area to manifest the signs of ageing is actually on the hands. Many people suffer the effects of lots of hand washing and hand-heavy chores and end up with dry, sore chapped hands. The hands can also be susceptible to wrinkling and hyperpigmentation. These hydrating and nourishing gloves contain hyaluronic acid, hydrolysed collagen and shea butter to rejuvenate the hands, leaving them looking younger and rehydrated.

CACI – Cellufirm Creme

While you may have been surprised to learn about ageing hands, we very much doubt that it will come as a surprise to anybody that ageing can have an effect on the appearance of cellulite. This Cellufirm Creme contains theophylline, which is similar to caffeine, and penetrates the skin helping to flush away excess fluid and fat deposits. The effect is tighter, more even skin with a more defined and toned appearance. There’s also a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid and cucumber extract to nourish your area thoroughly.

CACI – Eye Revive Mask

Masks are a fantastic product for soothing and calming the skin, and this Eye Revive Mask is no exception. It’s a silicon gel mask with soothing and calming properties to deeply nourish, cool and moisturise the skinGetting to Know CACI – The Non-Surgical Solution

. It contains green tea extract to reduce puffiness and collagen to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There’s also a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid and cucumber extract to nourish your area thoroughly.

CACI – Hydro Mask

If you’re looking for a soothing product to replenish sun damaged and dehydrated skin then this Hydro Mask could be just the thing. Unlike many other face masks the Hydro Mask comes in separate sections for the treatments of the upper and lower face. This means that you will get better coverage and a more even application. They can be refrigerated beforehand for an intense cooling effect which will banish redness and irritation as well as softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Honest Truth About Ageing

Photo by Juno Jo on Unsplash

Unless you’re one of those unspeakably lucky people who has as the perfect mixture of genetics which allow you to stay looking youthful, right until you’re in your 80s, you’re probably going to have to come to terms with the fact that your face will start to show signs of getting older.

For some reason, many women seem to find the ageing process something to be ashamed of and will go to great lengths to avoid talking about it. Here at Pure Beauty, while we sell lots of amazing products which slow down the signs of ageing, we don’t think that the natural ageing process is anything to hide away from.

With this in mind, we thought we would take a look at the honest truth about ageing and what you can expect to happen as the years pass.

Drier Skin

It’s an unfortunate fact that as we age our skin not only loses the ability to produce its own moisture, it also finds it harder to retain moisture which is applied to the skin. Dry skin is something which almost every older woman has to learn to deal with, even if they’ve had oily or combination skin in their younger years. Investing in a good moisturiser which is specifically designed for ageing skin is the best way to tackle this, as well as using powerful night creams and serums to enhance the power of whichever moisturisers you choose to use.

Loss of Muscle Tone

Another factor of ageing is loss of muscle tone, which can give the appearance of a droopy face, and jowls underneath your chin. This can create the look of a double chin, even if you’re slim everywhere else. Facial exercises which help to activate and tone the muscles can help greatly, as well as ensuring that you apply all of your skincare with an upwards stroking motion so as not to exacerbate the effects of muscle droopage, by dragging the face downwards when you apply your creams.

Less Collagen

Everyone has collagen in their skin and this is the thing between the upper layers and your muscles which allows youthful faces to look plump and smoothed. As we age, our ability to produce collagen naturally is greatly reduced which is why skin begins to look thinner and more papery, losing that youthful plumpness. There are lots of creams on the market which stimulate natural collagen production and investing in one of these as you get older is a really good way to combat that thin-skinned look.

The Benefits of Bamboo in Your Beauty Routine

You’d be forgiven for thinking that all bamboo is good for is feeding pandas and propping up your sunflowers, but extracts from bamboo can actually be extremely beneficial to your skin. It is packed with antioxidants, is an anti-irritant and even has anti-inflammatory properties. This means that it helps to provide the skin with essential nutrients, while helping to calm down any signs of damage.

Bamboo is also an excellent source of silica, which is essential for maintaining a youthful complexion. It’s brilliant to use for all skin types as it helps to maintain the elasticity in the skin, by bolstering collagen production and preventing the ‘plumpness’ of your skin from depleting.

Here are some of our favourite bamboo-containing products:

Decleor 2 in 1 Purifying and Oxygenating Mask

This mask from Decleor uses the beautifully named ‘bamboo tears’ to cleanse and deeply mattify without dehydrating the skin. The mask can be used to both cleanse and exfoliate the skin, and contains Egyptian loofah fibres to gently eliminate dead skin cells, while spheres of white jojoba restore hydration and leave your skin feeling soft.

Elemis Daily Moisture Boost

Skin is rarely more vulnerable than it is directly after shaving, as the blades of a razor strip away the oils and protective layers of the complexion. Elemis developed this daily moisture boost especially for male skin and uses bamboo to assist in restoring elasticity, suppleness and essential nutrients stripped away during shaving. It offers a lightweight, fresh, non-oily formula which feels great on your skin and even offers defence from harsh external pollutants.

Dermalogica Antioxidant HydraMist

Another benefit of bamboo is that it stimulates the skin’s own hyaluronic acid production, giving increased hydration and elasticity while tightening and firming skin, which is why Dermalogica has used it in this hydrating mist. The mist also contains ingredients which inhibit the enzymes that contribute to the breakdown of collagen, leaving your face feeling properly hydrated and nicely plumped for a more youthful appearance.

Dermalogica Thermafoliant Body Scrub

This body scrub from Dermalogica is a little different to the other products on the list, because it uses the actual stem of the bamboo, rather than extracts. The bamboo stem helps to physically exfoliate the skin to refine skin texture and brighten tone. It also contains extracts of licorice, white tea, coffeeberry and chamomile, which infuse skin with vital antioxidants, while oils of tea tree and grapefruit peel purify and refresh.

One question that we see a lot is “what can I do to help my XXX grow” – be it eyelashes, fingernails or hair, many of us want to give our body a helping hand when it comes to growing. There are some products out there which claim to help, but which really don’t do much at all, but we’ve got the inside scoop on several products which really do help growth in some way. Here are five of them:

Elemis White Flowers Eye and Lip Make-Up Remover

A lot of people hate their eyelashes, claiming that they’re too stubby, and many people find their own lashes damaged after having extensions removed. This make-up remover from Elemis is not just good for getting rid of the most stubborn waterproof make-up, but it also conditions the lashes from the root and encourages healthy growth.

Nailtiques Protein Formula 2

Nail growth often feels sluggish, especially if you’re someone whose nails are prone to splitting. This formula from Nailtiques is designed for soft, peeling and weak nails. It helps stimulate rapid growth and strengthens nails. It has won countless awards and is regarded as a cult classic by the beauty media.

Dermalogica Antioxidant HydraMist

If wrinkles and fine lines are your issue, then this mist from Dermalogica is the product for you. Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 stimulates collagen synthesis, which helps to firm skin and overrides the effects of MMPs. It also activates Tissue Growth Factor (TGF), a peptide that is required in its active state for collagen production to occur.

Decleor Aroma Nutrition Satin Softening Dry Oil

The current trend for thicker, more defined eyebrows is all well and good, but if like many of us you spent the Nineties and Noughties over-plucking your brows into oblivion, you might not have much to work with. Lots of people are having good results with this oil from Decleor, which conditions the existing hair and daily massage helps to stimulate hair growth.

Elemis Pro-Definition Eye and Lip Contour Cream

Bigger lips are pretty popular right now, and if you don’t want to opt for invasive procedures like lip fillers, then this lip cream is a good alternative. New chaperone technology with scientifically proven plant stem cells help to re-densify, plump and re-build thin, ageing skin around the lips, leaving your mouth looking plumped and more full.

Elemis Hydra Boost Serum

Cleanse, tone and moisturise is our mantra when it comes to beauty routines, but we think there is a place for a serum in there too.

Yes, it is another product for your bathroom, and they aren’t always cheap, but adding a serum into the mix could be worth it.

Just to get things straight, a serum is a skin care product you apply to your skin after cleansing but before moisturising to help tackle specific concerns such as fine lines, brightness, acne or hydration.

At Pure Beauty, we sell a range of serums across the skin type ranges and are sure we have something that will work for you.

Let’s start with one of our summer favourites, the Dermalogica C-12 Pure Bright Serum. This is a potent skin brightening serum that really helps with pesky hyperpigmentation and uneven tone. Used morning and evening, the blend of Oligopeptides, Rice derived Phytic Acid, Zinc Glycinate and Algae work on the pigmentation imbalance that can become more problematic when the sun shines and UV rays hit the skin. The silky cream is quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving the perfect base for your moisturiser and as well as brightening the skin, it will also help minimise discoloration and improve clarity

Next we want to talk about the Elemis Hydra-Boost Serum. This clinically proven hydrating serum provides all day moisturisation for thirsty skin. Quinic and Hyaluronic Acid plus Dhatelo Oil have been blended with Myrtle, which is super-rich in anti-oxidant phenolic compounds, and together they help maintain natural defence systems. Simply apply to cleansed skin before you moisturise and watch your skin come to life once again.

If you really need to rebuild and revitalise your skin, we would suggest trying out the outstanding Jan Marini Age Intervention Peptide Extreme. We love this concentrated blend of antioxidants, hydrators, peptides and soothing agents which not only deal with dreaded wrinkles, but also get to work on uneven texture and redness. Used morning and night, this luxe product will really make a difference to the look and feel of your skin making it appear firmer and more radiant thanks to the increased production of collagen and elastin.

If dryness is your bug bear, look no further than the Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil. This remarkable next-generation, daily-use treatment oil works on three levels:

Phytoactives from Camellia and Tamanu oils help restore the skin’s natural barrier.
Orchid Flower and Chia Seed Oil smooth dehydration lines and lock in moisture.
Sunflower, Rice Bran and Rosemary extracts create a shield against free radical damage.

The results are a dewy, glowing complexion free of the tightness and irritation dehydration can cause.

For a real face lifting effect, without going anywhere near a surgeon, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Serum is perfect. Created from concentrated Padina Pavonica, Rhodochrosite, Quartz and Argan Oil, this special serum forms a network of proteins which deliver an immediate tightening effect to the skin. Organic Seaweed binds moisture in the epidermis so your skin feels firm and strengthened and because fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed, your look more youthful. For best results, use morning and night together with the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream.

If you would like more information about serums or if you would like to try a sample, get in touch today and we would love to help.
