Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash

Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash

Back in 2009, we had the unfortunate task of telling our customers that we were no longer able to sell Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash on our site, due to Dermalogica deciding that it should only be sold through skincare practitioners who were able to give a personalised recommendation based on a consultation with a client. We respected Dermalogica’s decision and completely understood their need for caution, however we’re delighted to say that after a recent policy review, Dermalogica has decided that it CAN be sold online again, providing a proper warning is given. So, here’s everything you need to know about Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash!

What Does it Do?

Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash is a potent cleanser which can be used on skin which is prone to blackheads, breakouts and oiliness. It clears pores of impurities and dead skin cells, clears clogged follicles, and helps to prevent future breakouts. It also contains anti-bacterial ingredients which help to kill the germs which cause spots and skin problems.

What’s in it?

Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash contains some really potent ingredients, hence the warnings! Salicylic acid takes care of sloughing away the top layer of dead skin cells and dirt, while balm mint, eucalyptus and tea tree take care of the anti-bacterial side of things. Soothing camphor will soothe the skin, helping to eliminate areas of redness and reducing inflammation.

How Do I Use it?

Perform the Dermalogica Double Cleanse that begins with Dermalogica PreCleanse.

  1. Pour a small amount of Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash onto dampened hands.

  2. Apply to wet face and throat, activating with fingertips in light, upward strokes and concentrating on any areas of congestion. Avoid eye area.

  3. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water. The Dermalogica Sponge Cloth can be used (dampened).

  4. Repeat for professional results.

What Do I Need to Remember?

If skin experiences sensitivity or dehydration from daily use, reduce use to 2-3 times per week. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Use as directed. For external use only. Keep out of eyes.

Give Your Skin a New Lease of Life!

Royalty-free image

One sure-fire way to stop you from looking your best is to neglect your skin. Skin which isn’t properly cared for can look dull and lifeless, making you look older than you really are or just simply under the weather. You might think that giving your skin a new lease of life would require expensive and painful cosmetic procedures, but it’s actually easier, cheaper and far more painless than you might think! Today, we’re looking at five of the best products from Elemis, Dermalogica and Decleor which can help your skin to look revived and refreshed.

Decleor Lift and Brighten Peeling Gel

Utilising fruit acids in products is a great way to lift away the dull, dead surface cells of the skin without using harsh chemicals and that’s exactly what Decleor have done with this peeling gel. After just one application of this gel, your skin will look brighter and more radiant and will continue to improve with long term use because of the way the exfoliator stimulates the elasticity and tone of the dermis, while soothing active ingredients provide the epidermis with comfort and softness.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

Another product which relies on fruit-based magic, this papaya enzyme peel from Elemis gently exfoliates and purifies tired, lacklustre skin. It gently exfoliates the skin, making the complexion appear smoother and brighter without being too abrasive or causing irritation to ageing or delicate skin. It contains natural ingredients which work with the body’s own processes to improve the skin on an ongoing basis.

Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer

This daily resurfacer from Dermalogica is designed to be used every day and comes in individually dosed sachets so that you know you’re using the right amount. It contains botanical skin brighteners which improve the surface of the skin, ensuring maximum hydration without causing any irritation. They can be used by all skin types and even help to control melanin production to avoid dark spots forming.

Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash

Efficient cell renewal is absolutely vital for skin to remain in prime condition, so using a product every day which encourages cell renewal is essential. This daily-use face wash from Elemis encourages the skins natural cell renewal cycle, actively smoothing and refining whilst gently exfoliating away any dead skin cells which can dull the complexion. A newly cleansed complexion is revealed every day and the added essential fatty acids ensure that skin is fully hydrated, too.

Decleor Phytopeel Smooth Exfoliating Cream

The Aroma Cleanse range from Decleor is a customer favourite, and this exfoliating cream is no exception. It helps to gently remove dead skin cells WITHOUT the use of exfoliating particles which can often cause redness and irritation. This makes it ideal for ageing or sensitive skin and can be used once or twice a week on both the face and neck for a more youthful glow.

5 Products to Help Your Teen Through Prom Season

If you’ve got a teen who’s in their last year of school then you’re probably well aware that as soon as Christmas is over, prom preparation begins, which means hours of researching an shopping for dresses, hair appointments and make-up sessions. The teen years can be really difficult if they struggle with blemishes or acne and it will be all the more angst-inducing now, so we’ve put together a selection of products which could really help them to get control of their skin in the coming weeks.

Dermalogica Daytime Treatment

Acne and breakout prone skin may seem like it’s moist enough, but it’s actually really important to use a moisturiser even when you feel like you don’t need one. This daytime treatment from the Dermalogica Clear Start range is a lightweight formulation which helps to regulate sebum production and contains anti-bacterial components which actually kill the root cause of the spots before they have a chance to develop.

Dermalogica Emergency Spot Fix

If breakouts do happen at critical times (like, the night before the prom!) then this potent topical application will target the spot-causing bacteria and kill it in its stride. It also contains several powerful, naturally-occurring ingredients such as green tea and licorice which reduce inflammation and redness, making the blemish appear less angry.

Dermalogica Pore Control Scrub

Keeping acne-prone skin clean is of the utmost importance, as is making sure your products don’t irritate the skin further. This scrub removes dirt and dead skin cells from the skin whilst employing natural clays to soak up excess sebum, ensuring teen skin is spotless…both literally and figuratively!

Dermalogica Overnight Treatment

It’s important to take care of skin during sleep hours as this is often the time when spots develop, so using Dermalogica’s Overnight Treatment is a really great idea. It soothes over-stimulated skin, thus reducing the skin’s need to produce sebum which will halt one of the main causes of acneic breakouts. Use after cleansing and toning before bed for the best results.

Dermalogica Matte Moisturiser SPF15

If your teen has particularly sensitive skin, then the sun can actually be a problem as over-exposure will play havoc with oil production and can damage the surface of the skin. Encouraging your teen to use a moisturiser which is both suitable for acne-prone skin and containing an SPF could help to protect their skin in the long run and will also help them to form good habits for later in life, ensuring that the signs of ageing don’t appear in an untimely fashion.

Caring for Your Skin After a Chemical Peel

facial peelHere at Pure Beauty, we feel that the products we offer from Dermalogica and Decleor are more than enough to ensure that we don’t need to go for more drastic measures such as fillers and chemical peels. However, we know how a-peel-ing (see what we did there?!) the prospect of totally renewed skin can be and that a chemical peel can seem like a good idea, so we thought we’d put together a guide for helping you to care for your face after taking the plunge.

Be Gentle

The single most important thing we can tell you is to BE GENTLE! The skin which has been peeled away has revealed the brand new, extremely delicate and sensitive skin beneath and it needs to be treated with the utmost respect. Opt for the mildest cleanser you can find; we recommend Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser which is designed to cleanse and protect even the most delicate and sensitive of skin.

Don’t Over-Moisturise

The whole point of a peel is to destroy the top layer of skin, which means that your face will feel dry and flaky once the chemicals have started to work. It’s tempting to add moisture to your skin when it feels this way but actually, in order to get the full benefit of the treatment you need to allow your skin to dry out and flake away.

Replenish

Once the old, dead skin has fully peeled away, NOW is the time to start replenishing the new, rejuvenated skin with the moisture it needs. One of the unwanted side-effects of a chemical peel is that the peel can actually increase melanin production temporarily, which can cause dark spots. Using a product which reduces the effects of hyperpigmentation is really important, so investing in Dermalogica Pure Light SPF50 ahead of time is a good idea.

Stay Away from the Sun

Keeping your brand-new skin away from the sun is also very important. Your risk of burning is FAR higher when you’ve had a chemical peel and burning brand new skin right away, causing sun damage, completely defeats the object of having a peel in the first place! The Dermalogica Pure Light SPF50 that we mentioned above is good for this reason too; the SPF50 gives added protection if you simply aren’t able to stay indoors.

Don’t Exfoliate

This may seem like a no-brainer but exfoliating is a big no-no right now. Your skin is probably the most delicate and sensitive it will ever be and exfoliating it now could cause you some serious discomfort. It may be tempting to help the flaky skin to peel away but YOU MUST RESIST!
