Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator

We have all heard that it is important to exfoliate, but why is that and what exactly does it do? Exfoliation gently removes the dulling top layer of dead skin cells from of the epidermis which then encourages cells to renew so that skin is refreshed as well as clean and clear.

At Pure Beauty, we sell a range of products that could help you exfoliate your way to better skin, so let’s have a look at them.

A popular product with our customers is the Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant and for good reason. Suitable for all skin types, except sensitive, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Sulphur and fruit enzymes have been combined and together help remove dead skin and promote cell renewal. Used once or twice a week, the conditioning botanical extracts soothe your skin and combat dryness so you have a smoother, happier complexion.

For a real beauty treat, we love the Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator. This gorgeous product contains micro-spherical Jojoba beads which have been blended with hydrating Rose Absolute and together they gently exfoliate the surface of the skin leaving it silky smooth and soft. This can be used once a week and you simply massage a little of the product into cleansed skin using light circular motions, then remove with warm water, pat dry and apply your moisturiser. Free from parabens, mineral oil and artificial colours, this exfoliator leaves skin looking smoother and brighter from the very first application.

The Decleor Phytopeel Smooth Exfoliating Cream is a lovely cream formula which exfoliates and smoothes the epidermis. It gently absorbs and eliminates impurities, and because it does not contain exfoliating particles, it the gentlest and most natural way to renew your skin. As well as removing dead cells, Phytopeel cleanses the skin and helps stimulate the renewal process so you are left with a healthy glow.

We are big fans of the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant which is gentle enough to use on a daily basis. This unique, rice-based enzyme powder micro-exfoliates the skin, instantly leaving it noticeably smoother and brighter. It is suitable for all skin types and the blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo, and Colloidal Oatmeal calms inflammation, leaves skin looking clear and refreshed after every use.

For something a little different, why not try the Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads? This is an innovative, refining treatment that gently encourages the skin’s surface cell renewal cycle. For results that rejuvenate, revitalise and smooth the skin, slide the pad, texture side down, over your face in a circular motion morning and evening, after cleansing and this will boost and leave you with a clear, luminous complexion.

We also sell a range of accessories including the Dermalogica Exfoliating Face Brush, Dermalogica Ultimate Buffing Cloth and the Elemis Luxury Cleansing Cloth Duo which can enhance cleansing and help get your skin in the best condition ever.

To find the right exfoliator for you, get in touch today and would love to help and can even send free samples so you make the best choice you can.

dark lipsWe’re not sure if Kylie Jenner is entirely the cause, but 2016 has seen a crazy amount of dark lip looks in magazines and on catwalks. It’s not always the easiest thing to pull off and you need to make sure you get it exactly right, otherwise it can end up looking a complete mess, so we’ve put together a little guide to help you to make sure you wear your dark lips with pride!

Exfoliate Your Lips

Many of the dark lip colours on the market right now are matte, which can be really unforgiving if you have dry lips. Matte lipstick can exacerbate dry lips too, making it a bit of a vicious circle. Using the Dermalogica Exfoliating Face Brush to gentle remove any dry skin will really help to improve the appearance of your lips, as well as avoiding further drying-out.

Add Moisture

Many of the ate or long-lasting lipsticks and liquids are incompatible with lip balm and simply won’t stay on your lips if used at the same time. Applying a slick of Dermalogica Climate Control Lip Treatment before bed each night will ensure that your lips don’t succumb to dryness, giving you a smooth pout.

Experiment with Colour

If you’re a complete beginner when it comes to dark lips, then making sure you get the right colour is essential. Opting for a shade with a blue base (no, we don’t mean having blue lips, we mean blue-pinks and blue-reds – YES, that’s a thing!) will ensure that your lipstick doesn’t make your teeth look yellow and starting with a more subtle shade before taking the super-dark plunge will help you to refine the look.

Use a Lip Liner

If you’ve got fine lines around your lips, there’s nothing worse than having lipstick that bleeds and it’s going to be especially noticeable if your lippy is dark. Using a co-ordinating lip liner will give you excellent definition around your lip line and will prevent feathering really effectively.

Set Your Colour

If you want to give your lips serious lasting power, then once you’ve finished applying the colour blot with a tissue and then apply a layer of finishing powder, before adding a final layer of colour to finish. This will keep your lippy in place for the majority of the day (unless you eat pizza. NOTHING survives pizza grease!)

How To Make Your Lips Look Fuller

fuller lipsOkay, so while we’d like to espouse a message of being happy with yourself exactly the way you are, we know that everyone has their insecurities and if we can do something to help then we should. Lots of women feel that their lips aren’t full enough and turn to surgery to enhance them, but there are lots of products you can use and lots of tricks to help your lips look fuller without going under the knife, so we thought we’d share some of them here.

Exfoliate

When you use your Dermalogica Exfoliating Face Brush to clear away dead skin from your face, spend a little time concentrating on your lips. Sloughing away dead skin will improve the appearance of your lips, making them look smoother, but it will also increase circulation in this area and give the illusion of plumper lips.

Moisturise

Using a product to moisturise your skin is the first step to healthy lips, but opting for a product with cell renewal and plumping action is a no-brainer. Dermalogica Lip Renewal Complex is a powerful daily treatment designed to restore delicate tissue while minimising contour lines and helping to prevent the signs of ageing.

Line

Using a lip liner which is one or two shades darker than your own lips to create a lip-line just outside your natural lip line will help you to create a fuller look whilst remaining natural. Obviously, practice is key as is getting the right shade, but with a steady hand and a decent lip pencil you can significantly improve the fullness of your mouth.

Highlight

Once you’ve lined and coloured your lips with your chosen shades, use a highlighting pencil, or a little highlighter on a fine brush to accentuate your cupids bow and the area below the middle of your bottom lip. We’re not quite sure WHY this makes your lips look fuller but it really does!

Gloss

Using a little lip gloss only in the middle of your lips is another clever, inexpensive way to make your lips look fuller. Wait until you’ve done your liner, colour and highlighting and use a little clear gloss in the middle third of your mouth. You can also use a little bit of neutral, shimmery powder to create a similar effect if you don’t like the feeling of gloss.
