Elemis Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil

After a long day at work, office drinks and having to stand up on the train all the way home, taking your make up off before jumping into bed might be the last thing you want to do. We get it, but we also know that leaving foundation, mascara and highlighter on as you sleep, can play havoc with your skin, so those extra few minutes in the bathroom before you hit the sack, are totally worth it.

At Pure Beauty we think we have got this covered, and have something that will be right for everyone, whatever their age and however hard they like to party.

While getting that smoky eye perfect can take ages, taking it away is super easy with the Dermalogica Soothing Eye Make Up Remover. This efficient, clean-rinsing formula dissolves all traces of eye make-up including stubborn mascara, as well as heavy lip liner too. Oil and alcohol-free, as well as water-soluble, this conditioning gel not only cleans but thanks to Silk Amino Acids it helps to strengthen eye lashes and condition the delicate lid area at the same time. Simple to use, this gentle formula won’t cause irritation or stinging, which makes it perfect for all skin types and ideal for contact lens wearers – just remember to take those babies out before nodding off!

Teenagers love make-up and sleep, so they might want to try the Dermalogica Foaming Wash if they want to keep their skin blemish free. Orange Peel and Tea Tree Oil energises and refreshes skin, while Salicylic Acid deals with dead cells and trapped oil so that breakouts are tackled and kept under control. Gentle but effective, this face wash can be used morning and evening and is the perfect introduction to a great skin care routine for life.

If you like make-up with staying power, the Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil could be good for you. Brilliant for removing waterproof make-up, and ideal for oily skin, this popular cleanser not only soothes and softens your skin but it lifts impurities away at the same time.

Want to try something new, then how about the Decleor Bi-phase Caring Cleanser and Makeup Remover? Powered by a scientific blend of Virgin Botanical Oils and Floral Water, not only does this product cleanse and nourish your skin, but it takes away all traces of make-up too. Decleor have create a revolutionary formula which softens, plumps and soothes skin which together boosts radiance, so add it to your basket and put it to the test.

For clean, smooth, refined skin you don’t need surgery, what you need is the Jan Marini Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser. We love this gentle, soap-free cleanser because not only does it wash away the day, but it leaves your skin feeling amazingly hydrated thanks to sorbitol, a natural humectant derived from berries. The non-irritating formula easily rinses away, and works well with the brand’s Bioglycolic Bioclear Cream which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, redness, acne scarring, large pores and uneven texture.

If you would like more information about any of these products, or are interested in trying some samples before making a decision, get in touch today and we would love to help you get things right.

Let’s face it, there are better things to do with our time than clean our homes, but it is a necessary evil unless you want to live in a mess, or have the cash to pay someone to do it for you.

One of the biggest mistake people make when they are cleaning is to do it room by room (aka ‘zone cleaning’) which is slow and you can do it much faster, and better, if you take a different approach.

Focussing on just one area, may mean doing a great job on your counters which will sparkle and shine, but the cooker will still be dirty and as for the bathroom, well you won’t get time to go there if you are too busy folding the ironing for the next morning.

The reality is, if you put a system in place that is quick and efficient, you will have more time to do the things you really love.

Pick a Day
It can be any day, but pick a day when you can really get on top of your cleaning and this will automatically take some of the pressure off. We know this sounds daft, but doing this will make the rest of your week so much easier and you can get your partner, flatmate or kids doing jobs too! Maybe go for Sunday morning and then you can reward yourself with a roast dinner (wiping up gravy of course), or a Friday afternoon before you go out and then you can really let your hair down knowing it is done.

Start by Dusting
Dust each room, including the tops of all your furniture, the undersides of shelves and the books, as well as picture frames, TV screens and the bits and pieces we all collect that don’t really have a home. The best way to do this is to dust dry, when things are wet is so much harder. If you want to get rid of smudges and finger prints then use a clean microfibre cloth and good quality polish.

Clean Fabrics
Putting on the washing as you clean will make the most of your time and it will feel like everything is clean in your home, for a little while at least. Strip and remake the bed beds, tidy cushions and put throws back onto sofas neatly, vacuum your curtains and clean animal beds out too.

Clean Mirrors and Glass
Wipe down all the mirrors and windows in your home as they pick up a lot of dust and when the sun shines, it will show up and look like you haven’t cleaned for ages. One handy tip is to use one wet and one dry microfiber cloth as this will clean away dust and dirt but won’t leave behind lines and streaks.

Clean your Surfaces
Wipe down all the surfaces and counters in your home in one go. Move from room to room, disinfecting if necessary, and make sure you clean door handles, light switches, TV remotes, mobile devices and phones as these are full of nasty germs. If you have any illness or bugs in the home, make sure you do this at least once a day to stop anything spreading! Also leave cleaning items in bathrooms so you can wash during the week and prevent a massive build up of dirt to tackle on cleaning day. If you can, use environmentally sound protects, wear gloves to protect your hands, and always apply cream when you are done.

Get to Grips with the Bathroom and Kitchen
Walk through your bathroom and kitchen, spraying cleaner on your baths, sinks and toilets as you go – not on the carpets or floors of course. Then return and clean the bathroom and wash shower curtains and towels once the bedding is done. When it comes to the kitchen, wipe down the inside of the microwave, as well as cabinet and appliance doors before getting to work on the sink and table tops. Empty and bleach the bins so they are really clean and make sure everything sparkles, including the draining board.

Next to the Floors
Sweep, then mop or scrub the bathroom and kitchen floors, making sure you really get to those hard to clean areas as this is where nasties can hide and bacteria can hide.

Get the Vacuum Out
Last of all, vacuum the carpers in your bedrooms, down the stairs, through the living room and into the hallway, moving furniture so you get rid of the dust that can make you cough.

Now, put the kettle on and admire your hard work as you enjoy a cup of tea.

Let’s face it, even when you love your job, have a great boss and colleagues you get on well with, work can get stressful.

Commutes, long hours, computer screens and being contactable pretty much 24/7 thanks to mobile devices and the digital age, means work can take over your life if you aren’t careful.

What many of us don’t realise is that while a little adrenaline can keep us on our toes, ongoing stress can have a negative impact on our health, relationships, sleep and if you aren’t careful it can cause burn out.

We have looked at some easy ways of taking care of yourself while keeping your career on track.

Know what’s important
We are constantly saying we are busy, but don’t make this a reason to be late, tried and in the end, less productive. Each morning before you look at emails or make any calls, write a list of what you need to do that day and check on any meetings that have been scheduled. When you prioritise your workload, it is easier to have a stress-free day and if additional tasks come in, look at just how important they are before dropping your original plans.

Learn to say no
We are conditioned to say yes, but doing so can pile on the stress and make you less efficient. It isn’t easy to say no to a new project from your boss, especially when a promotion is on the cards, but if things feel too much, sit down with them and look at where other tasks can be delegated and what the deadlines are – tomorrow isn’t always realistic.

Take breaks
If you spend most of your day at a desk, you need to get up, walk away and take regular breaks. Making a cup of tea, walking to talk to a colleague, going to the post room and even making a phone call in reception are simple but effective ways to have a break from sitting down and staring straight ahead. When it comes to lunch time, it might be tempting to sit and work through your to-do list, but this is the perfect time to get away from it all. Go for a walk, have lunch at a local coffee shop or pack sandwiches and head to the park and clear your head.

Meditate at work
Meditation isn’t just for yoga classes and a quick session at your desk can really help bring clarity to your day. Even if you are having a super busy time, downing tools for five minutes, taking stock of your breathing and taking a step back can help increase your productivity levels and leave you feeling energised. There are loads of great books and apps out there, we like Buddhify, so have a look around and find something that works for you.

Work-life balance
We know it sounds like meaningless jargon, but it is vital to plan your free time as well as work diary to get the right balance. Having a mix of hobbies, a group of friends to meet up with, gym membership or regular Zumba class to attend, will all help you turn off from work and relax.

Book a holiday
Just as you need to take a break in the day, you also need to use your holiday time. We aren’t saying take a full two weeks, but a long weekend with the girls or a mini break by the sea can really revive you and you will go back into work feeling refreshed and smiling.

So, if you want to be more productive and less stressed, take time out for you and we think you will see a difference.
