Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask With Halloween and bonfire night over, we are now driving in the fast road to Christmas. Presents to buy, cards to write, parties to attend, school plays to watch and endless people to please, this might be a fun time of the year, but it can also be a pretty stressful, expensive one too.

We have had a look at some of the products on the Pure Beauty website that let you take time out and relax, so you can clear your head and focus on what is really important in life – you!

At Pure Beauty we love the Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil and for good reason. Pure essential oils of Rosewood, Marjoram, Geranium, Melissa, and Chamomile have been expertly blended to create an aromatherapy product that soothes a busy mind, melts the painful tension from carrying all those shopping bags and allows the body to relax. Simply warm a little oil in your hands and then massage into the skin using gentle, upward movements. Not only will this leave your skin feeling soft and cared for, but your head will be cleared and thanks to the Lavender, you may well sleep better too.

Taking the Dermalogica Daily Cleansing Shampoo into the shower in the morning is one way to wash away the blues and plan for the day ahead. This nourishing, sulphate-free, daily shampoo not only leaves you with super healthy, really shiny hair that wows during the party season, but thanks to the blend of essential oils that have been used, your senses will be invigorated too.

The Decleor Satin Softening Dry Oil has a subtle, delicate fragrance, that can help you switch off from the crazy Christmas world for a little while. Enriched with festive Frankincense, Camellia, Rose and Sweet Almond Oils, this easy to apply product simply sinks into your skin leaving your body and face feeling softer, and your mind feeling calm and clearer.

The Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask blends Mimosa and Honey Absolute, with extracts of Orange and Bergamot so not only does it moisturise and enrich your skin, it also gives you time to sit back and relax as the goodness gets to work. Excellent for moisture lacking, tired complexions, this mask will not only help you look good, but the therapeutic plant extracts used, will boost your spirit too.

Finally, we wanted to mention the Dermalogica Sleep Sound Cocoon. Relatively new to the site, this revitalising gel-cream, transforms skin and because of the blend of ingredients used, it can help you sleep better too. Smoothed over the face and neck before bed, the Wu-Zhu-Yu , Persian Silk Tree and Tamarind Seed Extracts add hydration, reduce signs of fatigue, and vitality will be restored too, so you will look great on that party dance floor.

For more details or to try samples, why not get in touch today and we would love to help.

There’s more to cucumber than sandwiches

 Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil

While the humble cucumber is often only seen as an afternoon tea afterthought or an extra in a smoothie when the fridge is running low, it is actually jam-packed (excuse the pun) with natural goodness that can really benefit our skin.

The flesh might mainly be water, but it is also home to Vitamin C and caffeic acid, which both help reduce inflamed and irritated skin. The peel is often sliced away before being laid on top of ham for sandwiches, but this contains silica, which can firm sagging skin and because cucumbers are 100% natural, even people with the most sensitive skin can usually incorporate this into their beauty routine.

We did a little research and realised that quite a few of the products we sell here at Pure Beauty contain cucumber, so we thought we would let you know what’s what when it comes to this gorgeous green diva.

One of Dermalogica’s most popular products is their Skin Smoothing Cream and we know first hand that just a little goes a long way to smoothing the fine lines which are caused by dehydration. When applied to cleansed and toned normal to dry skin types, moisturising Lecithin and Aloe Gel nourishes while Extracts of Mallow, Cucumber and Arnica soothe and hydrate. Used morning and evening on a regular basis, the result will be happy, soft skin that radiates health.

Cucumber in oil might not be a match made in picnic heaven, but it works when it comes to the gorgeous Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil. Perfect for soothing the mind, melting tension and easing muscles, this exquisite mix of pure essential oils deserves a place in every bathroom cabinet. Chamomile, Cucumber, Melissa, Marjoram, Geranium, Rosemary and Lavender have been blended and is the perfect way to treat dry, irritated and stressed skin, leaving it satin smooth and silky soft. Thanks to the aromatherapy benefits of the oil, when massaged into the skin at bedtime, it offers comfort and can also help you drift off to sleep, now we didn’t know cucumber could help do that!

It’s not just aging skin that needs a little love; young, blemish-prone complexions do too and cucumber is a hero again here. The Dermalogica Overnight Treatment is a soothing, hydrating product that has been blended with Green Tea, Lavender, and Cucumber which all help to calm unhappy skin.

The Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator is a great way to achieve radiant, soft skin and we love it. Used weekly this luxe product is perfect for buffing away dirt and dead skin cells, leaving behind a glowing, youthful complexion. Absolute of Moroccan Rose hydrates the skin, while Jojoba Beads exfoliates it and thanks to Cucumber your whole face is tightened and left feeling cool and refreshed after the very first use. Seeing, and feeling, is believing, so give it a go.

Dermalogica Intensive Eye Repair is an ultra-rich cream that helps diminish dry lines and repair damage around the delicate eye area. Skin-replenishing phytonutrients and botanicals of Cucumber, Butcherbroom, and Arnica help achieve optimum skin health and restores suppleness. Wild Yam Extract and Pro-Vitamin B5 help repair prematurely ageing skin, while antioxidant Vitamins A, C, and E together with Grape Seed Extract protect the skin from harmful free radicals.

We can’t help you with a lunchtime buffet, but if it’s beauty products that come complete with a serving of cucumber you are looking for, get in touch and we will show you the way.

Seasonal Focus: Almonds

Royalty-free image

Using seasonal produce is a great way to ensure that the body gets what it needs when it needs it; things which appear at certain times often contain essential nutrients which are ideal for their season. Winter is the season for almonds, which are not only highly nutritious, containing essential fats, they’re also a fabulous ingredient in beauty products. Here’s our top 5 almond-containing products from Decleor, Dermalogica and Elemis.

Decleor Essential Cleansing Milk

Almond oil is an incredibly nourishing ingredient which infuses moisture into the skin, reducing tightness and leaving it feeling soft and supple. This cleansing milk from Decleor contains sweet almond oil, among other ingredients, to cleanse the skin, remove all traces of make-up and daily dirt, and tighten pores for a clearer, more radiant complexion.

Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil

Almond oil is both moisturising and very neutral, making it the perfect carrier oil for other combinations of fragrant oils for massage therapy. This oil from Elemis is designed to de-stress the muscles and combines rosewood, melissa, marjoram, geranium, rosemary, lavender and chamomile in an almond base for regenerative results.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Hand and Nail Treatment

The hands and nails benefit hugely from moisturising products as they often have to deal with the harshest elements, such as cold weather and washing dishes, which contribute to dryness. This non-greasy hand and nail treatment from Dermalogica is made on an almond oil base and helps to repair chapped hands and strengthen brittle nails.

Decleor Micellar Oil

Micellar oil is a revolutionary way to cleanse the skin, which uses the powerful combination of oil and water to work deep into the pores, dissolving and dispersing dirt and impurities and removing all traces of make-up. Almond oil ensures hydration and make-up melting power, and even works on waterproof cosmetics.

Elemis Hydra-Nourish Night Cream

Almond oil contains oleic and linoleic fatty acids, as well as containing vitamins A, B1, B2 and B6, all of which are essential for youthful, well-balanced skin. This night cream from Elemis is a rich formulation which works intensively while you sleep to deeply hydrate the skin, regulating skin hydration, and helping to maintain skin’s firmness. Geranium and ylang-ylang add to the sweet fragrance of the formula, reviving the senses and counteracting stress, anxiety and depression.

Replicate Your Spa Experience at Home

Royalty-free image

Having a spa day is great for mind and body but not always for your budget and although many people try to do it at home, their experience is often lacking that true spa feel. We’ve been taking a look at what most people love about their spa experiences and have put together a list of tips for you to use to make sure that your home spa experience is as accurate as you can make it.

Lighting

Trying to lay back and enjoy a relaxing face mask is no good if you’ve got bright overhead lighting going on, so adjusting the lighting is essential for a relaxing environment. Candles give the best lighting as it’s natural and calming, but if you don’t fancy having open flames around you you could try some battery-powered tealights which give off a really similar light to proper candles without the risk!

Fragrance

Smell is one of the most powerful senses and as well as being able to evoke strong memories and emotions, it can dictate mood and energy. If your house doesn’t smell fabulous when you indulge in a home spa day then it’s much harder to get yourself into the right head-space. Invest in an oil burner or some wax melts in a fragrance which promotes relaxation and also apply some Elemis Quiet Mind Temple Balm to your temples to promote harmony, tranquillity and relaxation.

Tools

Think about the treatments you intend to give yourself and whether there are any tools that you’ll need to do so. Obviously a fluffy robe and slippers are an absolute must, and you may want to lay an old, clean sheet over your bed to protect your bedding from any oils. Using an Elemis Body Detox Skin Brush to thoroughly remove dead skin cells and improve circulation is a great way to start your home spa experience and will make your skin more receptive to any other products you choose to use.

Treatments

Unless you have a willing spa partner, you’ll have to think about what you’re actually able to achieve by yourself. Obviously it’ll be impossible to give yourself a full body massage (unless you’re SUPER bendy!) but massaging smaller areas such as your own hands and feet, neck, face and calves is much more achievable. Invest in some Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil to help you to release tension and feel thoroughly revitalised.

Pick Your Moment!

Finding time for yourself can often be tricky but planning your home spa day is all about timing. Try to do it when you won’t have people walking in and out of your room asking for pairs of clean socks or where their homework has disappeared to, make sure the dog has been walked and you aren’t waiting for a parcel to be delivered otherwise it will all make it so much harder to get into a relaxed and serene mood.

A break-up, especially if it’s a bad one, can wreak havoc on your health and appearance – time spent crying into a pillow, eating comfort food and re-watching Bridget Jones’ Diary is never good for your complexion. However, everyone knows that the best way to get over a break-up is to move on, looking FAB-U-LOUS whilst doing so, so we thought we’d take a look at some products which will help you to go from sad-sack to bounce-back in no time at all.

Elemis Absolute Eye Mask

When you spend a lot of time crying, the tissue around the eyes ends up literally engorged with extra moisture, leaving your eyes looking puffy and red, so you’re going to want to use something to take that puffiness away. Elemis Absolute Eye Mask is applied around the eye contour and removed after ten minutes, during which time it hydrates, nourishes and revitalises the delicate eye area, banishing swelling and redness for good.

Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak

Let’s face it, spending hours and hours crying and feeling upset can be utterly exhausting and by the time the tears have passed, you often feel like you’ve run a marathon. Treating your body to a revitalising soak in a botanical bath is a must, and this muscle soak from Elemis is the perfect product. It contains rosemary, juniper, thyme and clove to soothe the muscles, stimulate circulation and lift your mood.

Elemis Body Detox Skin Brush

Giving your body a thorough exfoliation is a brilliant way to feel fresh and new, as well as helping to slough away dead skin cells and reveal the new cells beneath. This brush from Elemis is designed to disperse cellulite, buff the skin, stimulate circulation and new cell growth and just generally help you to scrub your way to glowing skin.

Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Night Cream

Sleep is an excellent tool against dull, ageing skin and bolstering your defenses is always a good thing. Using this night cream from Elemis will actively resurface your skin while you sleep by stimulating the skin’s cell renewal, uncovering younger looking skin and ridding your face of lines and imperfections.

Elemis De-Stress Massage Oil

Massage is the ultimate way to relax and this oil from Elemis has been specially designed to help to melt away your stress. A combination of rosewood, melissa, marjoram, geranium, rosemary, lavender and chamomile form a unique blend which will unknot tight muscles, deeply moisturise the skin and soothe your senses, leaving you feeling more relaxed and ready to move on with your life.
