Decleor Antidote Serum

If the eating, drinking and late nights got a little out of hand during the Christmas and New Year period, don’t beat yourself up about it.

We can all overdo it when we are having fun and that’s fine, but now is the time to get back in the saddle and look after ourselves as we step into a new decade.

At Pure Beauty we sell some amazing, iconic products that can bring your skin back to life and today we are showcasing some of our favourites.

If it’s brighter, healthier skin in just minutes that you want, the Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel is for you. This is a professional grade ‘at home’ peel that is packed with phytoactive AHA extracts and lactic acid. There are also pumpkin fruit and Australian caviar lime extracts which work to reveal new, firmer skin and reduce the appearance of the fine lines and wrinkles that can look worse when we are tired. Each pack contains 10 applications and you simply leave on for three to seven minutes, once a week and new 2020 skin will start to appear in no time at all.

Late nights and too much partying can take a toll on the delicate skin around our eyes, but these signs can be wiped away with the Jan Marini Luminate Eye Gel. This gel tightens skin on impact and works to reduce the appearance of under eye circles, sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Made from a powerful, but gentle mix of ingredients, this gel also reduces the appearance of pigment and discolouration, and because the eye area is hydrated, it will look healthier and smoother too.

A serum can be a great way to get the skin you want, and we love the Decleor Antidote Serum. Whether you have dry, uneven, oily or sensitive skin, this natural origin serum will leave it smooth and glowing, thanks to the addition of hyaluronic acid. On top of this, a powerful blend of peppermint, sandalwood and patchouli essential oils will strengthen your skin’s barrier and protect it from the outside world.

A flawless complexion from dawn to dusk you say? Yes, this is what you get with regular use the Elemis Peptide4 Adaptive Day Cream. This feather-light priming moisturiser adapts to the needs of your skin, which means your complexion looks balanced and smooth all day long. Cold-pressed honesty seed oil is part of the mix and it helps support the moisture barrier of your skin that can be compromised during the winter. Swiss botanical extracts, including butterfly bush, thyme and mallow have been added so your skin looks mountain fresh.

Let’s not forget your hands because after all the wrapping, cooking and nail polish applications, they can be left feeling unloved and tired. Nailtiques Cuticle and Skin Gel is a lightweight gel designed to heal dry, cracked cuticles, and can be used on dry skin on your elbows and any other area that needs hydration and moisture. This might also be the time to let your nails have a rest, so have a manicure to clean and tidy things up but leave the varnish for a month or two and you’ll be pleased you did.

Got a question about these products, or any others on the site? Let us know and we would love to help you get things right for 2020.

www.pexels.comLet’s face it, by this time of the year, many of us are often feeling exhausted and in need of a recharge. Long hours, tight deadlines and Christmas parties mean we are running on empty and finding ‘me time’ needed to get to the end of the week can feel impossible.

We are big believers that small things can lift your mood and increase your energy levels, so in the run up to the big day, let the card writing and present shopping wait, and do something for you at lunchtime instead.

Try Eyebrow Threading
Having your eyebrows shaped can change the way your face looks and the process means you sit down for just a while, not even able to look at your phone. Threading is an ancient Indian hair removal technique that is fast and convenient, it leaves no marks, isn’t messy and is like having a mini facelift. We admit that twisting cotton through the eyebrows can be eye-watering, but because it’s only ten minutes which will give you time to stop for sushi on the way back to work.

Have a Neck and Shoulder Massage
A half hour neck and shoulder massage can relieve stress, untie knots and leave you so much more relaxed. It’s fast and convenient and the delicate oils used will leave you feeling invigorated and able to make it to the end of the day. Walk to the salon and back and you’ll get an energy boost too.

Go for a Run
A run will get your heart rate up, more oxygen and blood will flow around your body and the resulting endorphins will lift your mood which means Dave in HR will seem like less of a pain. This is the ideal way to get outside and leave the stress of the office or shop floor behind you, so get your trainers on and start running.

Do a Little Yoga
Yoga is all about stretching, breathing, increasing muscle activation and a session in the middle of the day, will leave you feeling zen fresh for the afternoon.

Shake it Out
Dancing is a great way to shake away the stresses of the day, be that a bad boss, annoying colleague or difficult client. See if there is a class near your workplace and you will find that dancing away your lunch break will make you feel fab, and the afternoon will pass by in a flash as those feel good chemicals pump through your body.

Read a Book
OK, let’s take things down a little and go for a calmer option. Taking a book to a coffee shop and letting your mind escape to somewhere quieter is a real treat. Go alone, order something nice to eat and drink and just read a few chapters and you’ll feel those orders and accounts drop away.

Enjoy a Manicure
Want a quick make over for the office party? Why not head to a nearby nail salon for a manicure. Not only will you return to your desk refreshed, but your freshly polished nails will set off your outfit a treat but won’t break the bank! And if you feel like splashing out, have a pedicure done at the same time.

Have a Catch Up
It is the season to be jolly, so why not book in a few lunches before the office closes? Your midday break is a good opportunity to catch up and socialise, in person, with people you might not see that often and if you throw in the idea of Secret Santa then it’s a win, win!!!

Have fun!

www.pexels.com

We all know that being kind to others can give you a feel-good boost, but what about turning the goodness in on yourself once in a while? Far from being selfish, random acts of self-kindness can give your body some much-needed love, a little self-compassion releases a dose of feel-good serotonin and the chance to sit back and take your foot off the cortisol pedal can only be a good thing?

We know this might sounds a bit ‘out there’ but bear with us and we think you will like at least one of the suggestions we have made and hope you will try it out for yourself.

Write a gratitude diary
Before you go to bed, write down your thoughts from the day and make a list of what has made you happy and those things that made you grateful. It could be having a coffee with a friend, watching a beautiful sunset or simply having a hot bath are just some of the simple things which help life look better. Buy a pretty notebook, make a list each day and you will be surprised at just how much good there is in your life.

Just say no
You might not think it, but it is OK to say no to plans from time to time. We know that people have busy lives and family and friends make constant demands but sometimes missing that party or those drinks in the pub really won’t matter and you will be surprised at how taking it easy can perk you up way more than a sugary cocktail.

Colour in
The craze for adult colouring books isn’t going away, and for good reason. Turing off from the demands of life and simply drawing in between the lines with nothing else to focus on or worry about can be really relaxing and slightly addictive.

Work on yourself
Investing in your emotional wellbeing and mental health can be one of the best things you do for yourself in the long-run. Whether you see a therapist to talk over your issues, have a reflexology session, or read a self-help book and put the ideas into practice, all of these will help you see you who are so you can be happy.

Have cake and tea
Find a quiet café, where no one knows you, take a magazine or book, order a cup of tea and a slice of cake and enjoy the moment.

Try a little retail therapy
Every once in a while, buy something just for you. This doesn’t have to be something extravagant but treating yourself to a unicorn mug, your favourite scented candle or a really soft sweater can remind you that you are worth it.

Have a massage
Every now and again, book a massage, facial or manicure and let someone else look after you for a while.

Chill out
Do a yoga class. Meditate on the beach. Be alone with your thoughts. These are ways that you can turn off from the world and listen to your body, you just need to find what works for you.

Drop the guilt
Too many of us are consumed with guilt and what other people think of us. Leave those unhelpful feelings at the door and learn to accept that you are human and perfect the way you are. Use your time for what makes you feel good and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks.

Enjoy a bath
This one is super easy but often left off lists. Turn off your phone, pour bubbles into warm water, light some candles and let your worries melt away as you really let go and relax. Make Sunday night your escape night, a random act of kindness to yourself and you will end the weekend, and start the new week, looking after number one.

Elemis Sweet Orchid Monoi Body Oil

Hand and nail care might not be everyone’s primary beauty concern, but they do take a battering every day, so giving them a little TLC isn’t a bad day.

At Pure Beauty, we sell a range of products that help keep your hands and nails looking, and feeling, fantastic.

Soap can really dry out your skin, so you may want to swap it for the Elemis Sensitive Cleansing Wash. While this is a fash wash, it is ideal for sensitive, dry hands because it is made from extracts of Thyme, German Chamomile and Lady’s Mantle which soothe and calm the skin. The rich cleansing foam cleans and conditions hands without the harshness of some soaps which means they are left feeling soft and refreshed.

The Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Hand and Nail Cream is a gorgeous smelling hand cream that offers long-lasting comfort. It contains Shea Butter which is packed with essential fatty acids that leaves the hands feeling beautifully smooth and thanks to the Omegas 3, 6, 7 and Oleic Acid of Macadamia Seed Oil, skin is totally nourished from the very first use. Apply as needed and not only will you have happy hands but ones that are fragranced with the exquisite scent of Frangipani Flowers.

If you are worried about the signs of ageing on your hands, why not try the Jan Marini Bioglycolic Hand and Body Lotion? Glycolic Acid, Aminophylline and Shea Butter have been blended together to help improve the appearance of ageing and environmentally damaged skin. Used once or twice a day, this cream will lead to visibly smoother, hydrated skin.

One of our handbag essentials has to be the Elemis Pro-Radiance Hand and Nail Cream. Milk Protein, Avellana Seed Oil, Camellia, Virgin Plum and Macadamia have been mixed together to create a strong, but silky, barrier that locks in moisture. Litsea, Jasmine, Magnolia and a hint of Vanilla have also been added and this means that not only do your hands and nails look healthy and radiant, but they smell lush too.

If you do want to pay more attention to your nails, using the Elemis Sweet Orchid Monoi Body Oil can help. This divine body oil is enriched with a unique blend of Monoi and Mauve Butterfly Orchid which together condition your skin, hair, and nails. For best results, massage into your hands and feet after bathing as this will offer an intensive moisturising treatment and can form part of a home manicure and pedicure.

Age spots aren’t just a problem for faces, they can be seen on hands too. The Elemis White Brightening Dark Spot Corrector deals with these and thanks to the easy to use brush applicator, you can directly target key areas of concern on your face, neck, décolleté and hands. It is the combination of Vitamin C, Pea, Daisy and Garden Cress, a powerful anti-oxidant phytonutrient, that help reduce the intensity of dark spots and leave skin looking more even and youthful.

If you would like more information about these or any of our products, get in touch and we would love to help find something that is right for you.

Four Things You Should Know Before Getting a Gel Manicure

Four Things You Should Know Before Getting a Gel Manicure

Royalty-free image

In the past, if we wanted a manicure which lasted any length of time, you’d have to get acrylic overlays which require infills every few weeks and ended up costing a lot in maintenance. Now, if you want a manicure which lasts and looks good, but doesn’t ruin our own nails, you can opt for gel polish, which is cured (hardened) with a UV lamp and can last a matter of weeks. The application process is far simpler and you can have it applied straight to your own nails. Here are four things that we think you should know before opting for a gel mani:

Your Nails Don’t Need to Breathe

A common myth that gets touted around is that your nails won’t be able to ‘breathe’ if you have gel nails, but it’s actually codswallop. Your nails don’t need to be in direct contact with the air around them and having a gel manicure won’t somehow suffocate them! It can strip some of the oils from you nails leaving them a little dry, but that’s nothing that a little Elemis Sweet Orchid Monoi Body Oil won’t solve.

You Should Sunscreen Your Hands!

A lot of people don’t make the connection that the UV lamps which are used for gel manicures are basically the same type of bulbs which are used for tanning beds, which means that exposure leaves you vulnerable to melanoma. Before you have your mani (or do it yourself), use a sunscreen such as Elemis Liquid Layer SPF30 on your fingers to protect them from harmful rays.

You Can Do It Yourself

Not everyone has the spare cash to go to a nail salon once every couple of weeks to get their nails redone, but what you might not know is that gel manicures are more than achievable at home. You can pick up a kit which includes a curing lamp that gives you everything you need to get a salon-fresh look, and there are a lot of YouTube videos to help guide you through the process.

Be Careful With Your Cuticles

One of the things that a decent manicurist will do is take care of your cuticles before applying gel paint, so that it doesn’t stick to them and cause lifting around the edges. However, having your cuticles cut can leave you at really high risk of infection, and having them pushed back is a much better and more hygienic way to deal with them. If you’ve got some Elemis Tea Tree S.O.S. Spray in your bag, a quick spritz on your fingers one your mani has completely set would be great way to prevent germs from spreading.
