Dermalogica All Over Toner

New bags, shiny pencil cases, smart blazers and bus passes are often top of the list when it comes to back to school preparation, but what about skincare. Getting young people into a beauty routine is a good idea and what better time than now to introduce them to something new for their skin?

Cleanse, tone and moisturise is a good place to start, so we’ll give you the low down on that first and throw in some added extra so you’ve got all bases covered and top marks will be scored.

Clean skin is happy skin, so we would suggest using the Dermalogica Foaming Wash for deep cleansing and purifying morning and night. Perfect for teenage skin that is prone to acne and breakouts, this doesn’t strip away essential oils but instead washes away nasties that don’t help the skin. Meadowsweet has been added to protect against excess sebum, salicylic acid gently exfoliates away dead cells and reduces inflammation ,while tea tree oil kills bacteria.

Next to come into play is the Dermalogica All Over Toner. This refreshing, toner contains an impressive twelve gentle botanicals that refresh, energise and revive the skin in one go. We love that orange peel and lavender oil have been added to soothe skin and when you spray it onto the face, neck and back, after cleansing, the goodness gets straight to work.

Some people think that spotty skin doesn’t need to be moisturised, but this isn’t the case as the right products help skin look and feel better. What you might have been looking for is the Dermalogica Hydrating Lotion. This lightweight, easy to use cream helps soothe the discomfort caused by breakouts, while hydrating dry patches. Apply after toning and let the ginger, orange and grapefruit soothe and protect the skin, while plant based squalane softens and nourishes it.

OK, what next?

Well, we all love a pamper, so when the homework has been done, why not try a hot bath and pop on the Dermalogica Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask. As you soak your troubles away, the mask will decongest skin so it is clear and blackhead free. Things don’t stop there, as added kaolin clay absorbs excess oil and apple is on hand to hydrate.

Last but not least, if the pimple pops up after PE, a bottle of Dermalogica Breakout Clearing Booster in the kit bag will do the job. Salicylic acid has been added to get rid of bacteria and phytoplankton extract prevents the over drying that can happen with some harsher products. The best thing is that it works in 15 minutes, so by the end of lunch skin can be smoother and worries will be over.

Fancy trying a sample or two? Get in touch and we would love to help.

Mother’s Day is a special day where we all get the chance to show our mums exactly what they mean to us. It’s a time when Mums deserve to be pampered, and buying them the gift of beauty is a great way to do that. We may be biased, but we think almost everything we stock would make an amazing gift for your Mum this Mother’s Day, but in the interest of narrowing it down a bit, here’s 5 of the best:

Elemis Treat Your Feet Foot Cream

If your Mum spends a lot of time on her feet, this foot cream would be the ideal present for her. It’s an intensely moisturising formula which melts into the feet, nourishing the skin and softening areas of hardness. It contains conditioning shea butter and jojoba oil and smells wonderful. It bears the Elemis promise, meaning your Mum knows that there’s no parabens, sodium laureth sulphate, DEA, mineral oil or artificial colours in her treat.

Decleor Iris Rejuvenating Night Balm

This night balm from Decleor is a product which will not only work hard to make your Mum’s skin feel amazing, but it will also give her an excuse to take five minutes to pamper herself each evening. It’s to work at night when the skin is most receptive and will soothe the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increase cell renewal.

Dermalogica AGE Smart Starter Kit

This gift set from Dermalogica is the perfect introduction for your Mum to the wonderful anti-ageing products that Dermalogica has to offer. It contains Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser, Dermalogica Antioxidant HydraMist, Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque, Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm, Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30, Dermalogica MAP-15 Regenerator, Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex (sample), which means she’ll get a perfect overview of the products, allowing her to buy the full price versions for herself if she wants to.

Decleor 1000 Grains Body Exfoliator

This exfoliator from Decleor has a unique consistency, which starts as a gel, which then turns into an oil and then becomes an easy-to-rinse milk upon contact with water. It contains grapefruit oil and pearl sugar which combines to leave the skin feeling softer, smoother and refined.

Elemis Sweet Orchid Monoi Body Oil

Body oils are a great way to pamper yourself from head-to-toe and this one from Elemis has a fabulously indulgent fragrance. It’s rapidly absorbed providing superior moisturisation for dry, parched or mature skin and can even be used to condition the body, hair and nails.

Whether it’s a routine operation or an unexpected visit, not many of us can say we actually enjoy being in hospital. Although we’re huge fans of the NHS, the food is usually fairly grim, wards are either too hot or too cold and being around all of those other ill people can feel a bit oppressive! Never fear though, Pure Beauty have some fabulous suggestions of products that you can pack in your hospital bag which will make life a little more bearable.

Decleor 24 Hour Hydrating Cream Light

Hospital wards are notoriously too warm and sitting around in the heat all day can make you feel totally dried out. Using a good moisturiser can make all the difference and this light hydrating cream from Decleor is suitable for all skin types, allowing you to put back all of the lost hydration and avoid that tight, itchy dry skin feeling.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Hand and Nail Treatment

Keeping your hands clean when in hospital is really important because you don’t want to be picking up any additional germs, so you’ll probably be washing your hands and using drying alcohol gels more than usual. Keep some of this Dermalogica hand treatment on your bedside table and use it to stop your hands from becoming dry and cracking.

Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash

If you’re in hospital for any length of time, keeping yourself sane is half of the battle towards healing, which means being able to keep up with normal rituals like having a nice bath or shower and wearing clean PJs! Stick some of this luxurious, relaxing body wash in your bag to help you forget that you’re using a hospital bathroom and not your own.

Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20

For many of us, being unable to wear make up whilst in hospital can really add to feelings of being under the weather – this can be even worse if you’re in having a baby and people want to take pictures of you with a bare face after giving birth! This tint from Dermalogica gives a wash of colour and a splash of moisture, making you look and feel more healthy and less washed out.

Decleor Flash Radiance Mask

Being in hospital isn’t always bad – being confined to a bed sometimes means that you have no choice but to catch up on some sleep, read, binge-watch Netflix, and it can be the perfect opportunity for a bit of pampering too! Why not turn your hospital stay into something positive by treating your face with a mask, such as this one from Decleor which adds immediate radiance to the skin – you’ll come out of hospital looking better than before you went in!

LDB, little black dress, pamper

Little Black DressWith Christmas just a matter of weeks away, your social life is probably kicking up a notch, with work do’s and social gatherings with friends and family high on the agenda. The chances are, you’ll want to look glam and put-together at each and every event, so we thought we’d put together a guide to show which areas you need to concentrate on to get yourself LBD-ready.

Shave

Hairy legs will look horrendous with a little black dress, so you’ll want to de-fuzz in order to look your best. Prepare the skin with Decleor Triple Protection Shave Perfector before shaving and protect the skin during shaving with a rich emollient like Dermalogica Invigorating Shave Gel

Exfoliate

There’s no quicker way of ruining a “look” than by having ashy knees and elbows on show, and to get these areas of dryness looking their best you’ll first need to use an exfoliator to slough away old, dry skin cells. Opt for something like Dermalogica Exfoliating Body Scrub which will help you to buff your way to perfection.

Moisturise

In the cooler weather (and after all that shaving and exfoliating!) your skin really benefits from a richer-than-usual moisturiser. That’s why, especially on LBD days, we opt for a moisturiser like Dermalogica Ultra Rich Body Cream which will replace the skins’ lost moisture and encourage your body to replenish and repair itself, as well as making your skin look amazing.

Tan

Okay, so we aren’t all blessed with a year-round tan (or the bank balance to spend enough time in the Maldives to get one!), so a little help in the ‘glow’ department never goes amiss! Use a gradual tanner like Decleor Self-Tanning Milk Natural Glow in the days leading up to your event, but not before you’ve shaved or exfoliated or your efforts will be wasted, and by the big night you’ll have a tan which is at exactly the level you like.

Coif

An unruly mop of hair can be another problem if you’re trying to look as close to perfect as possible, so you’ll want to wash and condition your hair with products you can trust. We recommend Dermalogica Shine Therapy Shampoo and Dermalogica Silk Finish Conditioner for a sleek shine, which is the perfect way to complete your look.

Treat Yourself to a Home Spa Day

home spa dayWouldn’t it be nice to take ourselves off to a spa, every time we need a break from the day-to-day stresses of life? Unfortunately, for most of us, budget doesn’t allow for this type of luxury, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home, with a do-it-yourself spa day. Follow our five ideas and you’ll feel fresh as a daisy and ready to tackle to world with a reinvigorated zest for life.

Scented Wheat Bag

Wheat bags, which you heat in the microwave, are a lovely way to unwind and relax, by draping them around your shoulders and neck. A great way to add to the effectiveness of your wheat bag is by adding a couple of drops of essential oil once heated. Lavender is the obvious choice as it is renowned for its soothing properties, but jasmine, geranium, rose and sandalwood are also good choices.

Drink Water

Water is so important for helping the body to function correctly and the skin is the largest organ of the body, so it stands to reason that drinking plenty will help your complexion. Before you begin your spa day, infuse a jug of water with lemon, mint and cucumber for you to sip whilst attending to your treatments. The added flavour will make the water more palatable and will add to the overall feeling of wellbeing.

Exfoliate

Before beginning the process of pampering your skin, exfoliate to remove the old layers of skin using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for your face and Decleor Exfoliating Body Cream for your body. This will improve the effectiveness of any moiturising treatments you use and will also leave your skin looking rejuvenated and fresh.

Deep Conditioning

A home spa day is a great excuse to take care of your hair, and there are few products which will deeply condition your locks better than the things you’ll find in your kitchen. Mix together half a cup of honey, with a whole mashed avocado, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and an egg yolk. Slather on the hair and wrap your head with either clingfilm or a carrier bag – after half an hour, you hair will be in the best condition it’s ever been in. Rinse well and use a mild shampoo to remove any avocado chunks!

Steam

Another way to get your skin looking great is to use steam to open your pores. Pour boiling water carefully into a bowl and lean your face over it with a towel over your head, creating a mini facial sauna. The steam will open your pores allowing dirt and toxins to be wiped away with a product such as Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, a soap-free formula which contains calming balm mint and lavender extracts to soothe the skin.
