Elemis Superfood Berry Boost Mask

With Wimbledon just around the corner, it’s time for strawberries and cream, gin and tonic and let’s not forget the tennis.

At Pure Beauty, we sell some first-class products that help ensure your skin is as super smooth as the winning action on centre court.

If you want to volley into sensational skin, the Elemis Fruit Active Rejuvenating Mask is for you. This isn’t just a cleansing mask but a refining one too that is rich in strawberries and kiwi fruit. Left on for 10 minutes, once or twice a week, this deep cleansing therapy revitalises, brightens and nourishes even the dullest of complexions

The Decleor Energising Smoothing Cream is as light as the best tennis shoes and comes with an SPF 15 so that skin is protected from the sun if it does come out to play. Galangal extract reduces the signs of fine lines while potent ginseng tones and visibly brightens the skin, eliminating signs of fatigue, which is great if your game isn’t quite up to speed.

If you are going for game, set and match, there is no doubt in our minds that you need the Elemis Superfood Berry Boost Mask on your side. This purifying mask comes complete with Brazilian purple clay and an omega-rich super berry complex that not only balances the skin but mattifies tricky t-zones too. In less time than it takes to run up Henman Hill, this mask will draw out impurities so that skin is smooth, healthy and hydrated.

Given that Wimbledon is in the city, after a day outside, you will love the Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. This powerful, deep cleansing balm removes make-up, grime, and pollution thanks to a blend of English rose, elderberry, starflower, and padina pavonica. Skin is left feeling nourished and soothed, with a radiant glow. For best results, warm a little balm in your hands, smooth over your face, neck and décolleté and after gently massaging into your skin, rinse away and love the skin you are now in.

If running around in the sun isn’t your thing, but you’d like a tennis players’ glow, how about trying the Decleor Green Mandarin Sun-Kissed Glow Cream? This fantastic day cream helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles and gives you a sun-kissed glow at the same time. Citrus essential oils have been blended with hyaluronic acid and beta-carotene for a winning combo that re-energises tired looking skin.

All players get hot and bothered so after a great game and a cool shower, the Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Body Cream is a limb loving ‘go to’ product. This luxurious body cream has been enriched with macadamia oil and fragranced with frangipani flowers which together, leave skin silky smooth and smelling lush.

The Secrets to Looking Flawless

Royalty-free image

Flawlessness. For some of us it may seem like the quest for a flawless complexion is never-ending, or worse, totally unachievable and everyone uploading their filtered snaps to social media can make you feel even worse about your own skin. There are, however, a selection of products which work hard with your skin to make it look flawless and finding the right combination for you can be like hitting a beauty goldmine. Here are five of our favourites for helping us achieve flawless skin:

Decleor Expert Dark Spot Corrector

Nothing screams IMPERFECT like dark spots and areas of hyperpigmentation. This preparation from Decleor is designed to hit the dark spots right where it hurts and even comes with a unique applicator to help reduce the appearance of dark spots within 14 days. Papaya extract is the main ingredient which helps to even out the skins tone and helps to fade surface pigmentation, leaving your skin looking foundation-fresh even without make-up.

Dermalogica SkinPerfect Primer SPF30

Primer is essential for achieving a flawless look as it manages to even out both the tone and the texture of your skin. It’s ideal for dry skin as well as skin which is prematurely ageing, and will not only perfect your skin, but will also keep your make-up in place for longer. It also contains an SPF30 to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays, stopping sunburn and skin damage in it’s tracks.

Decleor Intense Translucency Fluid

Decleor Intense Translucency Fluid works in three ways; firstly, it brightens and unifies the skin’s complexion, eradicating dark spots and giving you a more even skin tone. Second, it reveals the skin’s own radiance by helping to get rid of dead cells on the surface of the skin. Lastly, it gives the skin a huge boost of moisture, giving 8-hour comfort to the face. The overall effect is a restored glow and a consistent skin tone which looks as though you’re already wearing make-up, even with a bare face.

Dermalogica HydraBlur Primer

If you have drier skin, you’ll probably find that the average primer dries your skin out even more as most of them control oil production in the skin, not something which is an issue if your skin is already dry. This primer from Dermalogica is designed specifically for dry skin, and the lightweight, non-greasy formula powerfully hydrates and transforms skin into an even surface with a dramatic blurring effect.

Decleor BB Cream 24 Hour Hydration SPF15

Decleor has put a lot of work into this product, using a combination of plant-based skin expertise and extensive research and development into colour. The BB cream is a foundation/moisturiser hybrid, doing the jobs of both – flooding your skin with a full day’s worth of moisture while using tinted pigments to create a flawless base. It comes in three shades will refine your skins texture, attack blemishes and even protect you from the sun with it’s added SPF15.

You may think that Summer is the prime-time to be worrying about shiny faces, what with the heat making you sweat, but if you suffer with over-production of sebum then winter can provide it’s own challenges. Constant changes of temperature, drying central heating and lack of sunlight can all conspire to make your skin create it’s very own oil slick, so we thought we’d showcase five of our best products to help you fight the shine

Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion

When we, here at Pure Beauty, read the description of this featherweight lotion, we weren’t quite sure we’d read it right, but yes, it actually contains microsponges! The particles are super absorbent and mop up excess sebum from your skin, and the lotion is suitable for people with oily, breakout-prone and acneic skin. Salycilic acid clears blocked pores while camphor, balm mint and cornflower reduce inflammation, attacking the root cause of sebum overproduction.

Dermalogica Clearing Mattifier

This incredibly potent lotion contains a multitude of hard-working ingredients which combine to perform a number of different functions. It’s a medicated, topical treatment which can be applied directly to an area of excess shine or breakouts and uses green tea, vitamin A, yeast extract, grape seed extract and pro-vitamin B5 (amongst other things!) to keep your skin totally clear and mattified.

Decleor Velvet Mattifying Fluid

Decleor have developed this fluid which attacks the problem of oiliness by increasing the amount of oxygen that the skin can absorb. This improves performance on a cellular level, rejuvenating your skin and discouraging the production of sebum as an overcompensation. It’s a really lightweight fluid which literally mattifies your skin upon touch and continues working all day to keep it look fresh.

Dermalogica Oil Free Matte SPF30

Keeping oily skin protected from the sun can be really tricky because so many sun lotions are oil-based and add to an already shiny face, making wearing make-up almost impossible. This lotion from Dermalogica is not only completely oil-free, but it also contains a broad-spectrum, high SPF to fend off the sun’s harmful rays whilst helping to prevent shine, regulate oil production and soothe inflammation.

Dermalogica Matte Moisturiser SPF15

This matte moisturiser from the Clear Start range is designed specifically for teenage skin, moisturising the skin from deep with, clearing excess sebum and targeting the cause, as well as helping to reduce inflammation and breakouts. It contains a light SPF for added protection and can be used in conjunction with the rest of the Clear Start range to keep teenage skin well under control.

Prolong the life of your tan

prolong tanHere a Pure Beauty, tanning is a bit of a hot topic for us; while we love to travel and spend time in warmer climates, we’re all too aware of the damage that the sun can do to our skins and how much of an effect that has on the ageing process. However, tans which are achieved naturally and gradually (i.e. not through deliberately baking ourselves in the sun for hours) can give us a healthy glow that we want to hold onto, so we thought we’d share some tips and tricks for prolonging your tan, with the use of some handy Decleor and Dermalogica products.

Use the right sunscreen

So many people still think that if you use sunscreen you won’t tan, which is nonsense. Using the right broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF will protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays and prevent your skin from burning. Using a minimum of SPF30 is essential (unless you’re naturally dark skin, when an SPF15 should suffice) as is reapplying every 2 hours, to ensure your skin absorbs only the good parts of the suns rays.

Find Shade

The skin has a natural cut-off point for how much melanin it will produce, which means that sitting in the sun all day long isn’t going to increase the depth of your tan if you’re just not that dark skinned to begin with. Give your skin regular breaks by sitting in the shade to avoid damage from UVA and UVB rays and use an aftersun to replenish the moisture lost and prolong your tan.

Eat carrots!

Okay, this one may sound a little ridiculous but beta-carotene is found in carrots and can hugely improve the skin’s ability to tan. It’s best taken as a supplement, rather than becoming a Bugs Bunny impersonator, but taking a beta-carotene supplement daily can improve your skins natural defences against the sun and will give you longer before the skin starts to burn, as well as increasing melanin production, the thing which gives us a colour.

MOISTURISE!

Sorry to get all shouty, but we cannot emphasise this one enough: MOIST-U-RISE! Keeping the skin well hydrated is the single most important step towards maintaining your tan. Skin which is dehydrated will immediately start to look dull and more pale, so we recommend stepping up your moisturising routine and adding something rich like Dermalogica Ultra Rich Body Cream to give you maximum moisture potential.

Fake it

If all else fails, fake it! There’s no point risking your health to top up your tan when there are so many amazing gradual tanners on the market which allow you to build a natural looking colour without ANY of the risks associated with tanning.
