Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Gel Mask

Gels used to be saved for those sticky hair products that kept quiffs in place, but took an age to wash out!

Today there are a whole multitude of cool gel products on the market that help your skin look and feel better than ever. At Pure Beauty we sell some gorgeous gel offerings from iconic brands that really work, and today we are bringing just some of them to you.

The Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Gel Mask helps refine the skin’s surface, something we often need in the middle of winter. The highly active gel-based mask targets fine lines and helps balance sebum levels without upsetting your skin’s natural pH balance. After the very first use, your skin will feel instantly smoother, it will be shine free, firmer and you will look more radiant.

When you think about night products, you generally go for a rich cream, but this isn’t the case with the Dermalogica Sleep Sound Cocoon Night Gel-Cream. Relatively new to the site, this gorgeous treatment not only cares for your skin, but promotes sleep too. Tamarind Seed Extract promotes natural hydration, Persian Silk Tree Extract reduces signs of fatigue and Wu-Zhu-Yu Extract means your skin looks alive when you wake after a good rest.

Hours spent looking at a computer screen, scrolling through social media and long nights can leave our eyes feeling a little tired and looking a little sad. To get to the heart of the matter, we suggest you try the Elemis Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel which instantly refreshes and soothes the eye area. Sugar Beet Extract, Yeast and Golden Root have been help reduce tiredness, and thanks to Olivine Extract, which is rich in the Magnesium that helps to reduce the effect of stress on the skin, you are left looking revitalised!

Skin needs to be clean, to be healthy, and one way to do this is to use the Jan Marini C-ESTA Cleansing Gel. This potent Vitamin C cleaner, can be used on all skin types and the cool gel turns into a luxurious lather that washes away make up and dirt, to leave you with noticeably softer, more refined skin and a healthy glow.

In the winter, a hot bath might sound great, but a warm shower with the Elemis Revitalise-Me Shower Gel is way better for your skin. Elemis have mixed a blend of Thyme, Basil and Neroli essential oils to create an uplifting shower gel that takes care of your body and senses.

It might be winter but the air is full of dirt and grime, so why not try the Decleor Anti-Pollution Hydrating Gel-Cream? Enriched with Moringa Olifeira Extract, this easy to apply gel-cream not only hydrates skin but also creates a protective layer against pollution particles. The gel has added oils as well as extracts of anti-inflammatory Centella Asiatica so you are left with a beautiful, smooth, luminous complexion which has to be something to smile about.

5 Gifts to Buy Your Menopausal Friend

Royalty-free image

The menopause is something that happens to every woman at some point in their lives and while many of us are pretty grateful for the lack of periods each month, some of the accompanying side effects can make us feel truly lousy. Hot flushes, memory loss and sleep disturbances are just a few of the undesirable symptoms of the menopause and if you have a friend who’s going through it, you might want to buy them a gift to help them through this awkward time. We’ve put together a list of five gifts that we think would be perfect for your menopausal friend to make her feel a little better:

Elemis Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel

If your friend is struggling with sleep (insomnia and night time waking are super common during the early stages of the menopause), there’s a good chance she’ll have dark circles around her eyes, which will be reminding her of her issue every time she looks in the mirror. This gel from Elemis is designed to refresh and cool the delicate eye area, tightening the skin and reducing dark circles, making the perfect gift for someone who’s lacking sleep.

Dermalogica UltraCalming Mist

Hot flashes and dry skin are two of the most common symptoms of the menopause and this spray from Dermalogica can help to tackle both of them. This soothing toner that provides critical hydration while helping to relieve and defend against inflammation, whilst relieving inflammation and discomfort, helping skin recover from damage and lipid barrier breakdown.

Elemis Tea Tree S.O.S. Spray

As we get older, our skin thins which means that not only is it easier to get an injury, it often takes longer to heal. This spray from Elemis is make from purified water and Australian tea tree oil, which is a natural antiseptic, anti-fungal and antiviral and can be sprayed directly onto cuts and abrasions to help with the healing process.

Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel

Another common symptom that menopausal women report is aching muscles and joints, as well as muscle tension and fatigue. As well as recommending a menopause-specific multivitamin, we also suggest that you use this gel from Elemis on your achy areas. It contains soothing extracts of arnica, birch and witch hazel, with cooling camphor and menthol, which combine to relive tired legs and muscle tension and can even be applied over tights!

Elemis Pro-Definition Day Cream

Elemis created this day cream just for menopausal women – it helps support skin that has begun to sag and lose definition, and leaves skin feeling more dense and resilient. It contains stem cells from sweet irises and Chinese hibiscus which stimulate the production of collagen and restore the look of skin’s vitality. Skin feels moisturised and revived all day long.

Five Skincare MUSTS For Your Thirties

Royalty-free image

Your thirties can be a real in-between time for skincare; you’re probably not dealing with acne or sports anymore, and your party days are petering out, but you’re also not at that hardcore wrinkle-fighting stage yet, either. In fact, we often find from our customers that skin is neglected MOST when women hit their thirties for a number of reasons. There are, however, several things you should be doing if you want to reach your forties with skin which is still in good shape. Here’s a few of them:

NEVER MISS SUNSCREEN

If you’re in your thirties, there’s a good chance that ‘time spent in the sun’ revolves around watching the kids while they practice their divebombs in the pool, but distraction is no excuse and you should be taking extra time to ensure that your skin is adequately protected from the sun’s harmful rays. We say protect against the signs of ageing now so you won’t need to reverse them later. Elemis Liquid Layer SPF30 is a broad spectrum, water-resistant physical barrier sunscreen protects against sun’s harmful rays.

ADD MORE MOISTURE

A mistake that many women make is thinking that they only need to moisturise their skin if it’s dry in the first place, but this simply isn’t true. All skin needs added moisture, and in fact oily skin is often that way because of an imbalance and lack of moisture making the skin over-produce Decleor 24 Hour Hydrating Light Cream is a light moisturiser which offers 24hr hydration and protection to all skin types.

THINK ABOUT ANTI AGEING

Something we see really often here at Pure Beauty is women who only start to use anti-ageing products once the signs of ageing have already started, but in fact using them preemptively is so much more advantageous as they can stop ageing in it’s tracks. Opting for products containing hyaluronic acid like Dermalogica Antioxidant HydraMist with its intense hydration and flash-firming properties will help you to look younger for longer.

DON’T FORGET YOUR EYES

Many women use an all-over facial moisturiser (probably because they’re short on time) and totally forget about their eyes, but this is a mistake. The skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to collagen loss, which means it’s usually the first place to age. Treat yourself to a tube of Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift which will help to remove all signs of stress and tiredness, keeping the skin around your eyes in top condition.

EXFOLIATE AT NIGHT

Changing hormones and the ageing process can mean that your skin starts to change in your thirties, maybe feeling a little more delicate than before. Exfoliation is an important step in your skincare routine but once you hit your thirties you should try to only do it at night. Skin goes into repair-mode as we sleep, so exfoliating away all the dead skin cells before your skin repairs itself at night will give you the best chance of waking up with a brighter complexion. Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant is a gentle exfoliator, suitable for most skin types.

Whether you’re a teacher, support staff, a student or a school-run parent, you’re probably feeling incredibly glad to see six weeks of summer stretching out ahead of you, where you can turn off your daily alarm, stay up as late as you want and even drink wine on a random Tuesday without having to worry about the next morning! It’s highly likely that your body is feeling more than a little tired, so we thought we’d take a look at some of our products which are designed to remedy all that tiredness and help you to put a little more ZING into your skin!

It’s easy to remove and can be used on all skin types, making it an essential product for your bathroom cabinet.

It contains omega-rich apricot kernel oil nourishes the delicate eye contour area, as well as benefiting from an applicator which cools and smooths the skin as you use it.

Combatting the Symptoms of Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism, also known as an ‘underactive thyroid’ is a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland, located in the front of your neck, doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone and causes your metabolism to work too slowly. Hypothyroidism is mostly seen in women between the ages of 40 – 50 and is seen in women ten times more often than men. It often occurs during the menopausal years and symptoms are often ignored during the early stages by both patients and doctors if the patient is at this age. There are many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism, and while taking medication and maintaining proper levels will help, some of the symptoms will persist. Here, we take a look at a few of them and how Pure Beauty can help:

Dry Skin

One of the single most common symptoms of an underactive thyroid is dry skin. As well as maintaining good levels of hydrating by drinking plenty of water, you should try to use a rich moisturiser like Dermalogica Power Rich, which is a pharmaceutical-grade formula, designed to give maximum levels of repair and hydration to depleted skin.

Facial Redness

As well as dryness, hypothyroidism can cause redness and tight-feeling skin, similar to the symptoms of rosacea. As well as feeling unpleasant, it can be tricky to hide without layers of heavy make up, which is why Dermalogica UltraCalming Redness Relief Primer SPF20 is a great product to help with this. As well as providing a sheer green tint to counter redness it also contains ingredients to calm and soothe the skin as well as protecting against skin-irritating UVA and UVB rays.

Fatigue

When your metabolism grinds to a halt, it can feel a lot like you’re wading through custard constantly, with fatigue dragging you down. We don’t have a magic trick to make you feel less tired other than getting a good night’s sleep and eating well) but we can recommend something to help with a tired complexion. Elemis Absolute Eye Mask will help to decongest, firm, tone and minimise dark circles, making you LOOK less tired, even if you don’t feel it.

Muscle and Joint Pain

Muscle and joint pain is hugely common with an underactive thyroid and when you combine this with tiredness, it can make you feel about 100 years old. Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak

Is designed to be added to a hot bath to help you to soothe aching limbs, harnessing the powers of birch, juniper, clove, alpine lavender, wild thyme and blue chamomile, combined with sea salt to recharge mind and body.

Eye Puffiness

As well as dark circles around the eyes, hypothyroidism sufferers also suffer with puffiness around the eyes. This can be easily combatted by adding Dermalogica UltraSmoothing Eye Serum into your daily routine; it’s a highly active eye treatment which is designed to be used on even the most sensitive eyes, giving excellent results whilst being completely gentle. It’s perfect for getting rid of puffiness and will have you feeling yourself in no time.
