What Can CND Products Do For You?

Even if you’re someone who has a regular appointment with a salon to have your nails done, there are lots of things that you can do in between appointments to maintain your nails. We’ve recently added CND to our brands, the global leader in professional nail, hand and foot beauty, so we thought we’d take a look at the products they offer to show you what you can do for your hands until your next nail appointment:

CND Cuticle Eraser

If your cuticles are fast growers, you may find that they look ragged before your next appointment. Cutting them yourself can be tricky and potentially damaging, so using CND Cuticle Eraser is the best thing to use. It micro exfoliates cuticles with a rich, creamy blend of AHA that effectively moisturises cuticles and helps prevent hangnails, keeping your hands looking neat and tidy.

CND RescueRXx

If your nails have become damaged for any reason, you’ll need a product which can help to repair the. CND RescueRXx is a highly effective treatment from CND that repairs damaged nails with the power of keratin protein and moisturising jojoba oil. With daily use, peeling and white spots are dramatically reduced.

CND RidgeFx

If your nails are ridged but you don’t want to deal with the effort of buffing them yourself, this ridge-filling product from CND is the perfect way to get smooth nails with minimal effort. This is a nail surface enhancer and ridge filler that smooths out ridges and masks imperfections for a beautiful colour application and chip resistant wear.

CND Solar Oil

Nails and cuticles are one area which needs lots of moisture, but many people forget to moisturise them. This oil from CND is an award-winning formula which drives moisture deep into the nail and cuticles, combining vitamin E and jojoba oils to reduce visible signs of aging and keep hands soft and supple.

CND Solar Oil Nail and Cuticle Care Pen

This nail and cuticle care pen is the pen version of CND’s award-winning solar oil, which gives you a convenient and portable application method. It’s perfect for shoving in your handbag and is a favourite with nail care professionals. Repeated use actually drives the oils deeper in the natural nail, for results that only get better with time.

Decleor Antidote Serum

If the eating, drinking and late nights got a little out of hand during the Christmas and New Year period, don’t beat yourself up about it.

We can all overdo it when we are having fun and that’s fine, but now is the time to get back in the saddle and look after ourselves as we step into a new decade.

At Pure Beauty we sell some amazing, iconic products that can bring your skin back to life and today we are showcasing some of our favourites.

If it’s brighter, healthier skin in just minutes that you want, the Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel is for you. This is a professional grade ‘at home’ peel that is packed with phytoactive AHA extracts and lactic acid. There are also pumpkin fruit and Australian caviar lime extracts which work to reveal new, firmer skin and reduce the appearance of the fine lines and wrinkles that can look worse when we are tired. Each pack contains 10 applications and you simply leave on for three to seven minutes, once a week and new 2020 skin will start to appear in no time at all.

Late nights and too much partying can take a toll on the delicate skin around our eyes, but these signs can be wiped away with the Jan Marini Luminate Eye Gel. This gel tightens skin on impact and works to reduce the appearance of under eye circles, sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Made from a powerful, but gentle mix of ingredients, this gel also reduces the appearance of pigment and discolouration, and because the eye area is hydrated, it will look healthier and smoother too.

A serum can be a great way to get the skin you want, and we love the Decleor Antidote Serum. Whether you have dry, uneven, oily or sensitive skin, this natural origin serum will leave it smooth and glowing, thanks to the addition of hyaluronic acid. On top of this, a powerful blend of peppermint, sandalwood and patchouli essential oils will strengthen your skin’s barrier and protect it from the outside world.

A flawless complexion from dawn to dusk you say? Yes, this is what you get with regular use the Elemis Peptide4 Adaptive Day Cream. This feather-light priming moisturiser adapts to the needs of your skin, which means your complexion looks balanced and smooth all day long. Cold-pressed honesty seed oil is part of the mix and it helps support the moisture barrier of your skin that can be compromised during the winter. Swiss botanical extracts, including butterfly bush, thyme and mallow have been added so your skin looks mountain fresh.

Let’s not forget your hands because after all the wrapping, cooking and nail polish applications, they can be left feeling unloved and tired. Nailtiques Cuticle and Skin Gel is a lightweight gel designed to heal dry, cracked cuticles, and can be used on dry skin on your elbows and any other area that needs hydration and moisture. This might also be the time to let your nails have a rest, so have a manicure to clean and tidy things up but leave the varnish for a month or two and you’ll be pleased you did.

Got a question about these products, or any others on the site? Let us know and we would love to help you get things right for 2020.

Nothing says ‘elegant and groomed’ quite like perfectly polished nails, but with busy lives and mounting costs, it isn’t always possible to get to the salon for a little TLC.

We have some easy to follow steps that can help you get salon-quality, beautiful looking nails at home so your hands always look fabulous.

Tools
If you want your nails to look good you need to make sure you have the right tools:

  • Nail varnish remover and cotton wool pads
  • Nail clippers
  • Cuticle pusher
  • Emery board and nail buffer
  • Hand and nail moisturisers
  • Base coat
  • Nail polish
  • Protecting topcoat

Take your time
Like many things in life, practice makes perfect and this is the case when it comes to a DIY polish job. Try to make it a relaxing experience, don’t rush and try to have fun.

Clean up
Remove any old varnish still on your nails. There is a wide choice of products out there and whilst an acetone-based remover is harsher than non-acetone removers, they do get the job done faster. Regardless of which remover you do use, it is worth remembering that they all have a drying effect on your nails and cuticles so minimise contact and avoid soaking your nails in remover as your skin will really suffer.

Shape up
Just as if you were at a salon, you will need to clip and shape your nails before very gently filing them into the right shape. If you have dry nails you may want to soak them in warm water before you start filing to prevent any breakages. When it comes to files avoid metal and very coarse options as these can cause splintering. Go for a slightly abrasive emery board or even try a crystal nail file. The most popular looks are slightly rounded or a square-rounded edge but experiment and see what works best for you. Take your time to carefully file and smooth the tops and sides of the nails and once you are happy with the shape then use a buffer to get an even surface.

Sit back and soak
With the nails shaped you can now relax and give you hands a soak. Fill a bowl with warm water and a add little face cleanser and then soak your nails and cuticles for a few minutes.

Cuticles
With the skin soft and relaxed, it is time to work on your cuticles. This can be a very sensitive area so it is a good idea to take your time as you gently push the cuticle back away from the nail with a cuticle-pushing tool. Taking care not to cut into or damage the skin.

Moisturise
Our hands are really put through the mill on a daily basis so at this point rub a good quality oil or cream into the skin so it is really hydrated, plumped and and replenished. Nail varnish doesn’t tend to like these creams so before getting to work with the top coat just make sure these products are rubbed in and any residue is taken off the nails with a little cotton wool.

Painting
The key to successful nails is to pain in layers. For the best results start with a base-coat which will help protect your nails from staining, keep them strong and ensure your polish lasts a little longer without chipping.

Once this is dry, shake your chosen polish (lid on of course) and then apply your first coat of colour. The pro guidance for polish is to use two coats and then a topcoat as this will make your nails look really vibrant and shiny.

Top tips
Don’t worry too much about mistakes – they happen to the best of us and can be easily corrected with a little remover on a cotton wool bud. Give yourself some time for your nails to dry and then you are ready to go.

Using a lighter colour on your nails as this makes mistakes and everyday chips and knocks less noticeable.

To keep your mainucre looking fresh and professional you can touch up the nail polish as and when it is needed and you can add another topcoat for that salon finish.

Finally remember to keep a tube of nourishing hand cream in your handbag to ensure your skin and nails are kept healthy and hydrates and if you can remember gloves when you are outside, all the better.
